TL;DR: An apparatus for separating oil from a water surface by distributing many small buoyant bodies of oil absorbent material upon such surface, continuously lifting such bodies from the surface, treating the bodies to remove the absorbed oil, and again distributing the bodies upon the surface for reuse as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: An apparatus for separating oil from a water surface by distributing many small buoyant bodies of oil absorbent material upon such surface, continuously lifting such bodies from the surface, treating the bodies to remove the absorbed oil, and again distributing the bodies upon the surface for reuse. The apparatus preferably includes booms for gathering the distributed bodies of absorbent material toward a conveyor which lifts the bodies upwardly. The booms are articulated and include floats so that the booms rise and fall with any wave action of the water, such as would exist in the unprotected waters of the open sea. The apparatus also preferably includes a system for compressing the oil from the bodies, and thereafter dropping the bodies onto the water surface for recycling.

TL;DR: In this article, the surface pressure, forces and moments are obtained for bodies oscillating with small amplitude about their steady equilibrium position and on bodies in small amplitude gust fields, respectively.
Abstract: This paper describes a very general method for determining the unsteady, two-dimensional, incompressible flow about one or more bodies of arbitrary shape. Specifically the surface pressure, forces and moments are obtained for bodies oscillating with small amplitude about their steady equilibrium position and on bodies in small amplitude gust fields. The equilibrium configuration of the bodies may also be arbitrary. Calculated results for single bodies in and out of gust fields are compared to results obtained by existing methods. Calculations and comparisons are also presented for two interacting bodies.

TL;DR: The new method for paper lipoprotein electrophoresis was originally developed by Lees and Hatchl and subsequently developed as a means of classification of these states by Fredrickson and Lees.
Abstract: Recent years have brought great change in the treatment of the hyperlipidemic states. This has been because of two significant developments: The first is the development of a new method of classification of these states so that all of the hyperlipidemias may be classified into one of five types. The new method for paper lipoprotein electrophoresis was originally developed by Lees and Hatchl and subsequently developed as a means of classification of these states by Fredrickson and Lees.2 The original paper technique has now been somewhat improved by the use of either agarose medium3 or cellulose acetate.4 4

TL;DR: In this paper, a drill-in anchor means and method of installing such an anchor means in a subsea formation, the anchor means including prestressed cable and casing means imbedded in cement which filled an anchor hole in the subsurface formation.
Abstract: A drilled-in anchor means and method of installing such an anchor means in a subsea formation, the anchor means including prestressed cable and casing means imbedded in cement which fills an anchor hole in the subsea formation. A subsurface buoy at a selected distance above the surface of the subsea formation provides a connection to a mooring line which may extend from a platform means or other floatable structure. In the method of installing such an anchor means after a drill hole has been made by using a drill casing, the casing is raised a selected distance and then is subjected to stress by a tension cable cooperable therewith, and then the casing and cable means is lowered into the hole. The casing means and hole are then filled with a cement slurry whereby the drill casing and cable are protected against corrosive action of the water.

TL;DR: In this paper, a line car circuit for a key telephone system is described, and means to ensure that the sensing means is nonresponsive to system noise transients are provided responsive to the operation of a sensing means to maintain local signaling for a predetermined period.
Abstract: A line card circuit for a key telephone system is disclosed. A key telephone system includes a subscriber line comprising a pair of line conductors interconnecting a central office with one or more subscriber key sets. The line car circuit has a sensing means which is responsive to ringing signals in the line conductors to initiate local signaling as an indication of the presence of an incoming call. Means are provided to assure that the sensing means is nonresponsive to system noise transients. Means are further provided responsive to the operation of the sensing means to maintain said local signaling for a predetermined period. Additional means are provided to rapidly switch the associated line into a ''''hold'''' condition when required. The rapid switching assures that associated PBX or central office equipment will not receive a premature line release indication. Means are further provided to perform all the necessary switching and supervisory functions required by the associated line.

TL;DR: In this article, the inorganic porous sintered separator was proposed to eliminate formation of gas when in contact with a zinc electrode, and permitting long cycle life of a high energy density battery such as a silver-zinc battery, produced according to one embodiment by initially firing a mixture of magnesium-bearing material, e.g., MgO, ZnO, and silica (SiO2), at temperature in the range of about 1,100 to about 1.500° C.
Abstract: Production of inorganic porous sintered battery separator substantially eliminating formation of gas when in contact with a zinc electrode, and permitting long cycle life of a high energy density battery such as a silver-zinc battery, produced according to one embodiment by initially firing a mixture of magnesium-bearing material, e.g., MgO, zinc-bearing material, e.g., ZnO, and silica (SiO2), at temperature in the range of about 1,100 to about 1,500° C, to produce a magnesium silicate-zinc silicate composition, granulating and compacting said composition into plaques, and sintering said compacted plaques at temperature ranging from about 1,000° to about 1,300° C, to produce porous sintered separator members, in the form of a sintered solid solution of magnesium silicate and zinc silicate, having good transverse strength and low resistivity.

TL;DR: The authors found that Talmudic methodology may permeate the complete Hebrew parochial school, that syllogistic and inductive techniques may be taught without formal study of the Talmud.
Abstract: Are Talmudic students superior reasoners as a result of the massive effort and time devoted to Talmudic training? To study this question, two tenth and two seventh grade groups, one each from the Hebrew parochial schools and public schools, were compared on 6 reasoning tests. As both parochial groups were significantly superior, it was concluded that Talmudic methodology may permeate the complete Hebrew parochial school, that syllogistic and inductive techniques may be taught without formal study of the Talmud.

TL;DR: The distribution of burrowing land crabs is discussed with respect to three general plant formations in gecarcinid crab localities, i.e., Mangrove-Estero, Island and Strand patterns.
Abstract: General remarks on the following aspects of the life history of land crabs are presented: migration, shedding of eggs, molting, juveniles and food. The nature of the crab burrows and the associated burrowdwelling organisms also are presented. The distribution of burrowing land crabs is discussed with respect to three general plant formations in gecarcinid crab localities, ie., Mangrove-Estero, Island and Strand patterns.
