TL;DR: Three Co(II) isomers assembled from D-, or L-, or DL-camphorate together with achiral isonicotinate exhibit a clear relationship between chirality and helicity even though chiral molecules are not in the backbone of the helix.

19 Apr 1994TL;DR: In this article, a multifunction electrocautery tool includes an elongated housing within which a generally cylindrical suction tube is slidably supported and a slide control includes an aperture coupled to the suction passage to facilitate a single finger or thumb control of the position and suctioning action.
Abstract: A multifunction electrocautery tool includes an elongated housing within which a generally cylindrical suction tube is slidably supported. A slide control is mechanically coupled to the suction tube and movable to control the retraction and extension thereof. The slide control includes an aperture coupled to the suction passage of the suction tube to facilitate a single finger or thumb control of the suction tube position and suctioning action. A cauterizing and cutting blade is supported proximate the suction tube and is coupled to a source of RF electrical energy by a connecting wire. In one embodiment, electrical controls for the cauterizing blade are supported upon the upper surface of the elongated housing while a pair of oppositely positioned slide controls are provided on right hand and left hand side surfaces to facilitate either right or left hand operation. In an alternate embodiment, a slide control is supported upon the upper surface which includes a control aperture coupled to the suction passage of the suction tube.

TL;DR: Significant changes in glenohumeral motion occur in this model during the simulated late-cocking and follow through phases of throwing, and posterior capsular tightness alters the humeral head position most profoundly during the deceleration and follow-through phases of throw.
Abstract: BackgroundOverhead-throwing athletes have increased external and diminished internal glenohumeral rotation that may alter glenohumeral kinematics.PurposeTo quantify the kinematic changes present in a cadaveric model of a thrower's shoulder.Study DesignControlled laboratory study.MethodsIn 8 fresh-frozen cadaveric shoulders, the rotator cuff and overlying muscles were removed, and the glenohumeral capsule, coracoacromial ligament, and coracohumeral ligament were left intact. The scapula was fixed, and the humerus was placed in 90° of shoulder abduction in a 6 degrees of freedom testing device. A compressive force of 44 N was applied. A thrower's shoulder model was created, and sequential conditions were examined: intact, after anterior stretching, and after the addition of posterior-inferior capsular plication. Kinematic measurements were obtained through a complete range of glenohumeral rotation.ResultsGlenohumeral external rotation increased 16%, from 149° to 173° (P <. 001), after stretching in external...

TL;DR: In this article, confirmatory factor analysis was used to further examine the construct validity of the scores on the Survey of Perceived Organizational Support (SPOS), a measure of perceived employer commitment, was found to be unidimensional and distinguishable from measures of affective and continuance commitment.
Abstract: Wayne Shore and Lois Tetrick demonstrated in 1991 that the Survey of Perceived Organizational Support (SPOS), a measure of perceived employer commitment, was unidimensional and distinguishable from measures of affective and continuance commitment. In the present study, confirmatory factor analysis was used to further examine the construct validity of the scores on the SPOS. Participants were 205 members of the staff and faculty of a large western state university. Consistent with Shore and Tetrick's findings, the SPOS was found to be unidimensional. In addition, the SPOS was found to be distinguishable from two similarly conceptualized correlates of affective commitment: perceived supervisory support and organizational dependability. Findings are discussed with respect to their implications for understanding the commitment process.
