TL;DR: Three hybridoma cell lines, SH2, SH3, and SH4, were identified; these hybridomas secrete antibodies that recognize antigens on the cell surface of marrow- derived mesenchymal cells, but fail to react with marrow-derived hemopoietic cells, suggesting that the antigen recognized by these antibodies are developmentally regulated and specific for primitive or early-stage cells of the osteogenic lineage.

TL;DR: It is recommended that the next generation of atypical antipsychotic drugs be screened to avoid H1-histamine receptors, which are known to induce weight gain with chronic use.

TL;DR: Findings indicate that overall cognitive ability is significantly lower among persons with ADHD and that FSIQ may show as large a difference between ADHD and control participants as most other measures.
Abstract: Cognitive measures are used frequently in the assessment and diagnosis of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). In this meta-analytic review, the authors sought to examine the magnitude of differences between ADHD and healthy participants on several commonly used intellectual and neuropsychological measures. Effect sizes for overall intellectual ability (Full Scale IQ; FSIQ) were significantly different between ADHD and healthy participants (weighted d =.61). Effect sizes for FSIQ were significantly smaller than those for spelling and arithmetic achievement tests and marginally significantly smaller than those for continuous performance tests but were comparable to effect sizes for all other measures. These findings indicate that overall cognitive ability is significantly lower among persons with ADHD and that FSIQ may show as large a difference between ADHD and control participants as most other measures.

TL;DR: Induction of MEKK does not result in the activation of MAPK, but instead stimulates the stress-activated protein kinases (SAPKs)6–8 which are identical to a Jun amino-terminal kinase9,10 which in turn phosphorylates and activates SAPK.
Abstract: A kinase distinct from the MEK activator Raf, termed MEK kinase-1 (MEKK), was originally identified by virtue of its homology to kinases involved in yeast mating signal cascades. Like Raf, MEKK is capable of activating MEK in vitro. High-level expression of MEKK in COS-7 cells or using vaccinia virus vectors also activates MEK and MAPK, indicating that MEKK and Raf provide alternative means of activating the MAPK signalling pathway. We have derived NIH3T3 cell sublines that can be induced to express active MEKK. Here we show that induction of MEKK does not result in the activation of MAPK, but instead stimulates the stress-activated protein kinases (SAPKs) which are identical to a Jun amino-terminal kinase. We find that MEKK regulates a new signalling cascade by phosphorylating an SAPK activator, SEK1 which in turn phosphorylates and activates SAPK.
