TL;DR: Circulating chemerin was increased in overweight patients with polycystic ovary syndrome and the most predictive variables for circulating chemer in PCOS patients were BMI, FAI and age.
Abstract: ObjectiveTo determine serum chemerin, vaspin and omentin-1 in overweight and normal weight patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and investigate the possible relationship between these adi...

TL;DR: It is demonstrated for the first time in the literature that obesity effects testicular Leydig cell function starting from Tanner stage 2 and the negative correlation between INSL3 and BMISDS indicates that pubertal obesity leads to Leydigs cell impairment.

TL;DR: In this article, performance evaluation of a 12.8MW single-flash design geothermal power plant in Northern Nevada is conducted using actual plant operating data, and potential improvement sites are identified.
Abstract: Performance evaluation of a 12.8-MW single-flash design geothermal power plant in Northern Nevada is conducted using actual plant operating data, and potential improvement sites are identified. The unused geothermal brine reinjected back to the ground is determined to represent about 50 percent of the energy and 40 percent of the exergy available in the reservoir. The first and second-law efficiencies of the plant are determined to be 6 percent and 22 percent, respectively. Optimizing the existing single-flash system is shown to increase the net power output by up to 4 percent. Some well-known geothermal power generation technologies including double-flash, binary, and combined flash/binary designs as alternative to the existing system are evaluated and their optimum operating conditions are determined. It is found that a double-flash design, a binary design, and a combined flash/binary design can increase the net power output by up to 31 percent, 35 percent, and 54 percent, respectively, at optimum operating conditions. An economic comparison of these designs appears to favor the combined flash/binary design, followed by the double-flash design.

TL;DR: In this paper, the non-local Euler-Bernoulli beam theory was employed in the nonlinear free and forced vibration analysis of a nanobeam resting on an elastic foundation of the Pasternak type.
Abstract: In this study, the non-local Euler-Bernoulli beam theory was employed in the nonlinear free and forced vibration analysis of a nanobeam resting on an elastic foundation of the Pasternak type. The analysis considered the effects of the small-scale of the nanobeam on the frequency. By utilizing Hamilton’s principle, the nonlinear equations of motion, including stretching of the neutral axis, are derived. Forcing and damping effects are considered in the analysis. The linear part of the problem is solved by using the first equation of the perturbation series to obtain the natural frequencies. The multiple scale method, a perturbation technique, is applied in order to obtain the approximate closed solution of the nonlinear governing equation. The effects of the various non-local parameters, Winkler and Pasternak parameters, as well as effects of the simple-simple and clamped-clamped boundary conditions on the vibrations, are determined and presented numerically and graphically. The non-local parameter alters the frequency of the nanobeam. Frequency-response curves are drawn.
