TL;DR: An octamethyl substituted tetraazacylotetradecadiene ligand salt Me8[14]diene has been shown to have antibacterial activity against different human pathogenic gram positive and gram negative bacteria as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: An octamethyl substituted tetraazacylotetradecadiene ligand salt Me8[14]diene.2HClO4 (L.2HClO4) on reduction produced three isomeric C-chiral ligands LA, LB & LC. Interaction of LB with excess acrylonitrile resulted in a N-pendent cyanoethyl derivative ligand, LBX. Reaction of LBX with nickel(II) salt, Ni(CH3COO)2.4H2O followed by the addition of NaClO4 afforded the complex, [NiLB](ClO4)2, as resulted by the interaction with LB instead of LBX with the same nickel(II) salt which on twelve hours reflux with acrylonitrile yielded square planar nickel(II) diperchlorate complex, [NiLBX](ClO4)2, This complex underwent axial addition reactions with KX (X = SCN, Br or I) and NaNO2 to form octahedral diisothiocyanatonickel(II) complex, [NiLBX(NCS)2]; dibromidonickel(II) complex, [NiLBXBr2]; diiodidonickel(II) complex, [NiLBXI2] and monoaquamononitronickel(II) perchlorate complex, [NiLBX(NO2)(H2O)](ClO4) respectively. The ligand, LBX with copper(II) chloride yielded purple dichloridocopper(II) complex, [CuLBXCl2] of octahedral geometry which underwent axial substitution reactions with KX and NaNO2 to form octahedral diisothiocyanatocopper(II) complex [CuLBX(NCS)2]; dibromidocopper(II) complex [CuLBXBr2]; diiodidocopper(II) complex, [CuLBXI2] and dinitrocopper(II) complex [CuLBX(NO2)2] respectively. These complexes were characterized on the basis of elemental, spectroscopic, magnetochemical and conductrometric analysis. The antibacterial activities of the ligand and complexes have been investigated against different human pathogenic gram positive and gram negative bacteria.

TL;DR: A non-invasive method is proposed to extract FECG from maternal abdominal ECG (AECG) which starts with the data collection followed by the pre-processing of the data, maternal QRS detection from thePre-processed data and finally fetal ECG extraction & fetal heart rate (FHR) estimation from the data after maternalQRS is properly removed.
Abstract: Fetal electrocardiogram (FECG) extraction in a non-invasive way has a vital role in medical diagnosis during pregnancy. Though there has been significant progress in adult electrocardiography, the analysis of fetal ECG is still in its rudiments. The existing methods for fetal ECG analysis are the invasive ones that cause severe infection to the uterine area being crucial for both mother and prenate yielding the necessity of non-invasive methods. In this paper, a non-invasive method is proposed to extract FECG from maternal abdominal ECG (AECG) which starts with the data collection followed by the pre-processing of the data, maternal QRS detection from the pre-processed data and finally fetal ECG extraction & fetal heart rate (FHR) estimation from the data after maternal QRS is properly removed. This method showed very good accuracy when compared to many previous works as mentioned in the paper.

TL;DR: A wavelet packet transform based feature extraction technique from PPG along with accelerometer and gyroscope data to differentiate various physical activities like high and low resistance biking, running and walking is proposed.
Abstract: Nowadays, high availability of optical and inertial sensors in fitness trackers and mobile phone attracts researchers attention on human activity recognition(HAR) through photo-plethysmography and inertial sensor data. It is also more suitable than camera based HAR in different circumstances. In this paper, we propose a wavelet packet transform based feature extraction technique from PPG along with accelerometer and gyroscope data to differentiate various physical activities like high and low resistance biking, running and walking. Wavelet packet transform(WPT) is applied on acquired signals and a number of statistical features and entropy feature are extracted. Random forest(RF) classifier is employed in recognition. A 5-fold cross validation is done to examine the performance and an accuracy of 97.8% is achieved which surpasses existing algorithms worked on the same dataset.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored urban waterfront heritage through a case study of Chittagong, Bangladesh, which is experiencing rapid unplanned urbanisation, insensitive land use and the demolition of historical buildings along waterways, which in turn has created a contextual crisis in the built environment and social living.
Abstract: Ancient settlements were dependent on the availability of water for sustainable living, ritual values, and economic purposes. Today, many Tropical Asian cities provide examples of urban settlements within water landscapes, yet these cities struggle with water issues, and face challenges in creating a contextual morphological identity. This paper explores urban waterfront heritage through a case study of Chittagong, Bangladesh. The city is experiencing rapid unplanned urbanisation, insensitive land use and the demolition of historical buildings along waterways, which in turn has created a contextual crisis in the built environment and social living. To explore the relationship of built heritage with the water-edge, this paper examines historical architectural styles using urban morphological codes. Results show that the historical orientations, accessibility, and functions of heritage buildings are explicitly and sensitively connected with the water-edge. The paper argues that physical and spatial components of urban structure and water landscape, incorporating the lessons of urban history, could become a tool to preserve urban heritage. However, to enhance the image of the city in a sustainable manner along water-edges, it is crucial to use the potentiality of water landscape with the heritage-based morphologies in current urban design and development practices.

TL;DR: In this article, the possible geometrical configurations of the superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) coil have been demonstrated and the relationship among the several parameters for both the solenoid and toroid configurations in different specifications have been presented.
Abstract: Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) is an exceedingly promising energy storage device for its cycle efficiency and fast response. Though the ubiquitous utilization of SMES device is restricted because of the immense cost of cryogenic refrigeration system to sustain the superconducting state but with the continuous evolution of high Tc superconductors, SMES is turning into a major contender to the existing energy storage devices in the future. Among its several parts, the superconducting coil is considered to be the most crucial segment of this technology and the inductance generated in the coil determines the quantity of stored energy. In this paper, the possible geometrical configurations of SMES coil have been demonstrated. High Tc superconducting tapes are usually employed to form these configurations worldwide. BSCCO (Bismuth strontium calcium copper oxide)-2223 tape superconductor has been considered for studying the conceptual designs of superconducting coil of SMES. Before estimating the results, the value of critical current at different magnetic field densities and temperatures have been addressed through the study of superconducting tape characterization. Numerical results and the relationship among the several parameters for both the solenoid and toroid configurations in different specifications have been presented. Based on the results, the size ratio in solenoid and the mean toroid diameter in toroid arrangement is found to play the vigorous roles in the generation of inductance and hence the energy storage. The results also match the propensity of other studies. Suggestions for maximum energy gain from a specific solenoid configuration have been provided. Future research scopes with alternative superconducting tapes and limitations of this study have been briefly conferred.
