TL;DR: This paper emphasizes on increasing the generation from the existing generators simultaneously focusing on the decrement of per unit cost of electrical energy in Bangladesh by determining the capacity, generation and per-unit cost of each generator.
Abstract: The demand for electricity is increasing day by day but is not satiated in the same pace. Coming to power distribution in Bangladesh, though the generation has increased to 20 GW but because of low reliability, the consumers show apathy to take power from the grid. The industries are more concerned to take power from their own built power plants rather than the grid. As a result there always remains a gap between demand and supply of power. This paper emphasizes on increasing the generation from the existing generators simultaneously focusing on the decrement of per unit cost of electrical energy. We considered the Chattogram region of the South East zone of Bangladesh as our model for work. After determining the capacity, generation and per-unit cost of each generator, we marked the generators that produced a large amount of electricity at a low price and those that generate at high cost and worked a way out to level with either type to finally reach towards an optimized model with the minimum possible unit price. We moved towards a fruitful conclusion through series of case studies, marking the feasible and non-feasible generators and finding out the best possible alternatives for a valid model. We not only proposed the alternatives but also showed demand and economy compliant output through separate case studies.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present data on parking and trip generation rates to illustrate the misuse of precise numbers to report statistically insignificant estimates, which can lead to bad transportation and land use policies.
Abstract: Transportation engineers and urban planners often report uncertain estimates as precise numbers, and unwarranted trust in the accuracy of these precise numbers can lead to bad transportation and land use policies. This paper presents data on parking and trip generation rates to illustrate the misuse of precise numbers to report statistically insignificant estimates. Beyond the problem of statistical insignificance, parking and trip generation rates typically report the parking demand and vehicle trips observed at suburban sites with ample free parking and no public transit. When decision makers use these parking and trip generation rates for city planning, they create a city where everyone drives to their destinations and parks free when they get there.

TL;DR: A computational model for robots that can pro-actively captures human attention and makes eye contact with him/her is proposed and Evaluation experiment by using a robotic head reveals the effectiveness of the proposed model in different viewing infatuations.
Abstract: Meeting eye contact is a most important prerequisite skill of a human to initiate an conversation with others. However, it is not easy task for a robot to meet eye contact with a human if they are not facing each other initially or the human is intensely engaged his/her task. If the robot would like to start communication with a particular person, it should turn its gaze to that person first. However, only such a turning action alone is not always be enough to set up eye contact. Sometimes, the robot should perform some strong actions so that it can capture the human's attention toward it. In this paper, we proposed a computational model for robots that can pro-actively captures human attention and makes eye contact with him/her. Evaluation experiment by using a robotic head reveals the effectiveness of the proposed model in different viewing infatuations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report the profitability of two listed pharmaceutical companies of four year accounting period from 2008 to 2011, and show that average profitability indicators for Square are higher than Beximco, except gross profit ratio and operating profit ratio.
Abstract: Pharmaceutical industry is technologically the most advanced manufacturing industry in Bangladesh and the third largest industry in terms of contribution to government's revenue. The industry contributes about 1% of the total GDP. There are about 250 licensed pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh. Currently a little over 100 companies are in production. According to IMS, a US-based market research firm, the retail market size is about BDT 84 billion as on 2011. Based on IMS report for the fourth quarter 2011, Square pharmaceutical holds the top market share in the retail market (18.7%), followed by Incepta and Beximco pharmaceutical. This sector fulfills 97% of the local medicine requirement. Besides, it is exporting chemicals and pharmaceutical products to global market including European market. The professional think tank, quality management, innovative ideas, government support are the key factors for the development of this sector. Hence the present study reports the profitability of two listed pharmaceutical companies of four year accounting period from 2008 to 2011. The analysis shows that average profitability indicators for Square are higher than Beximco, except gross profit ratio and operating profit ratio. On the other hand, the six other profitability indicators of Square are much higher than that of Beximco and go with the industry norm. Beximco has not been able to attain industry average net profit ratio, return on investment and return on equity, cash flow margin and cash return on assets .
