TL;DR: In this paper, the elastic constants and moduli, Poisson's as well as Pugh's ratio and elastic anisotropy factors have also been calculated to understand the mechanical behavior of these ternary compounds.
Abstract: For the first time, we have reported in this study an ab initio investigation on elastic properties, Debye temperature, Mulliken population, Vickers hardness, and charge density of superconducting ScRhP and ScIrP phosphides. The optimized cell parameters show fair agreement with experimental results. The elastic constants and moduli, Poisson's as well as Pugh's ratio and elastic anisotropy factors have also been calculated to understand the mechanical behavior of these ternary compounds. Their mechanical stability is confirmed via the calculated elastic constants. The calculated values for Poisson's and Pugh's ratio indicate the ductile nature of these compounds. ScIrP is expected to be elastically more anisotropic than ScRhP. The estimated value of Debye temperature predicts that ScRhP is thermally more conductive than ScIrP and the phonon frequency in ScRhP is higher than that in ScIrP. The hardness of ScRhP is lower due to the presence of anti-bonding Rh-Rh in ScRhP. The investigated electronic structure predict that the metallic conductivity of ScRhP reduces significantly when Rh is replaced with Ir. The main contribution to the total density of states (TDOS) at Fermi-level (EF) comes from the d-electrons of Sc and Rh/Ir in both compounds. These two ternary compounds are characterized mainly by metallic and covalent bonding with little ionic contribution. As far as superconductivity is concerned, the matrix elements of electron-phonon interaction are noticeably enhanced in ScIrP compared to that in ScRhP.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors used CNN architecture built from scratch with pre-trained ResNet50 and MobileNet-v2 models to assess the situation whether people are wearing mask, automatic identification of face mask in public places is a timely solution and that’s where WearMask in COVID-19 project primarily stands for.
Abstract: The rapid worldwide spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has led to global outbreak. To prevent the further spreading of this virus thus ensuring people’s health safety, wearing face mask is mandatory in all public places strictly imposed by the respective governments of the countries all over the world. To assess the situation whether people are wearing mask, automatic identification of face mask in public places is a timely solution and that’s where our ‘WearMask in COVID-19’ project primarily stands for. As part of our project, to identify whether people wear mask or not, this article analyzes and compares the effectiveness of using CNN architecture built from scratch with pre-trained ResNet50 and MobileNet-v2 models. These models are trained on a combined face mask image dataset having mostly low resolution simulated masked face images and some high resolution real masked face images. The models work through three steps: image pre-processing, image feature extraction and classification using the models above, and model evaluation. Experimental results show that an in-house CNN structure that we have developed from scratch performs better than the ResNet50 model and is comparable to the performance of the MobileNet-v2 model.

TL;DR: This paper has proposed a higher order mode pass filter which has the provision of handling four different modes and pass the highest order mode among them which can provide a more flexible operation of MDM system.
Abstract: Handling multiple spatial modes using mode-division multiplexing (MDM) on the platform of integrated photonic chip enables unprecedented communication bandwidth scaling for on chip communication. Significant research effort has been done in past decades on MDM system for exploring efficient mode handling devices. In this paper we have proposed a higher order mode pass filter which has the provision of handling four different modes and pass the highest order mode among them. This four mode filter unfolds multiple modes to deal with which can provide a more flexible operation of MDM system.

TL;DR: The performance of hard decision and soft decision variable threshold decoding has been presented in this paper and self-orthogonal convolutional codes are used for simulation.
Abstract: In communication theory, researchers are always trying to find fast and least complex decoding technique. Threshold decoding (TD) is such an easily implementable decoding technique to any modern communication system. Variable Threshold MTD (VT-MTD) is an improved version of conventional MTD system. The performance of hard decision and soft decision variable threshold decoding has been presented in this paper. Here, self-orthogonal convolutional codes are used for simulation. The proposed variable threshold hard decision decoding (VT-HMTD) produces 0.40dB coding gain at BER of 10−5 compared to HMTD system. Also, variable threshold soft decision decoding (VT-SMTD) gives 0.80dB coding gain at BER of 10−5 compared to soft decision technique. Both of these proposed algorithms give 4.5dB coding gain compared to the uncoded system.
