TL;DR: A location based emergency medical assistance system using OpenStreetMap (OSM) where the healthcare centers are mapped taking the waypoints of them and user of the application gets the text of nearest healthcare centers from user's current position during any emergency situations.
Abstract: Mobile Health can play a crucial role in emergency medical healthcare service. Because of rising road accidents in Bangladesh, anyone might need the information of nearest healthcare centers (e.g. hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centers) right after the incidents occur. This instantaneous information can save the lives of victims of these accidents. Hence, we have proposed a location based emergency medical assistance system using OpenStreetMap (OSM) where the healthcare centers are mapped taking the waypoints of them. Our proposed system comprises a database as central server of the detail information about healthcare centers, android device with application installed on it and its user. User of the application gets the text of nearest healthcare centers from user's current position during any emergency situations. The application shows the markers of healthcare centers on the map along with audio information for visually impaired people. The distance between current location of the user and location of nearest healthcare center is calculated by haversine formula. The effectiveness of the system is tested at different locations in a mapped area.

TL;DR: In this paper, the potential of biodiesel production from chicken fat waste and electricity generation from biodiesel on the scenario of remote region, Kuakata, located at southeastern Bangladesh based on the cost comparison between diesel and biodiesel-based power generation by HOMER software.
Abstract: This study outlined the potential of biodiesel production from chicken fat waste and electricity generation from biodiesel on the scenario of remote region, Kuakata, located at southeastern Bangladesh based on the cost comparison between diesel and biodiesel-based power generation by HOMER software. The main objective of this case study was to address an integrated simulation-based research outcome to manage chicken skin waste (fat) for biodiesel, generate electricity from the biodiesel and present the potential of greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction from environment by product implementation. Approximate electric load profile of Kuakata and comprehensive emission modeling for this region has been performed by fuel-switching model and RETScreen Expert software. The simulation outcomes presented that 492,695 L/year biodiesel can be produced from chicken skin waste in Kuakata and converted into 883 MWh electricity per annum. The operating cost was 188,062 $/year, and cost of energy production was 0.214 $/kWh. The outcomes from this simulation modeling also demonstrated that the annual fuel consumption for base case is 3.7 kWh/m2 while 1.5 kWh/m2 is for proposed case with the reduction of 2.2 kWh/m2 per year. The calculation and simulation results also presented 70.3% GHG reduction in the region which presented drastic drop of environmental pollution.

TL;DR: A web controlled and partially autonomous vehicle system which can be driven from anywhere using internet over a secured server and will have limited automation features so that it can drive itself safely in case of connectivity failure.
Abstract: A web controlled and partially autonomous vehicle system is presented in this paper. It highlights the idea to develop a remote controlled car which can be driven from anywhere using internet over a secured server. This car will also have limited automation features like traffic light detection, obstacle avoidance system and lane detection system so that it can drive itself safely in case of connectivity failure. The main goal here is to minimize the risk of human life and ensure highest safety during driving. At the same time the car will assure comfort and convenience to the controller. A miniature car including the above features has been developed which showed optimum performance in a simulated environment. The system mainly consists of a Raspberry Pi, an Arduino, a Picamera, a sonar module, a web interface and internet modem. The Raspberry Pi was mainly used for the Computer Vision algorithms and for streaming video through internet. The proposed system is very cheap and very efficient in terms of automation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a pilot-scale solar still with an effective surface area of 0.214m2 is fabricated with mild steel sheet and evaluated by varying basin water amount by 3L, 3.5L, 4L, and 45L synthetic water.
Abstract: Solar still is a simple device that utilizes the evaporation–condensation technique to convert impure saline water into the distilled water by eliminating dissolved salts as well as other dissolved impurities and suspended solids. This study aims to produce fresh drinking water from saline water with solar still in the context of Bangladesh. For this study, a pilot-scale solar still with an effective surface area of 0.214 m2 is fabricated with mild steel sheet. At first, solar still productivity is evaluated by varying basin water amount by 3 L, 3.5 L, 4 L and 4.5 L synthetic water. Experimental investigations show a decrease in water production with an increase in basin water amount. The optimum basin water amount is found to be 3.5 L at which distillate production is maximized. Then, the effect of salt concentration is assessed by synthetic solutions with 2000 ppm, 5000 ppm and 8000 ppm total dissolved solids (TDS). An inverse relation is found between salt concentration and freshwater production. Lastly, real seawater is fed to the basin and an average freshwater production of 2.38 L/m2-day is obtained with a removal efficiency of 99.87%, 99.83%, 99.78% and 99.81% for turbidity, chloride, TDS and electrical conductivity respectively.
