TL;DR: In this article, the authors used density functional theory to study the recently predicted MAX phase borides Hf2AB (A = Pb, Bi) in which the mechanical, electronic, thermal, and optical properties have been investigated for the first time.
Abstract: We have used density functional theory to study the recently predicted MAX phase borides Hf2AB (A = Pb, Bi) in which the mechanical, electronic, thermal, and optical properties have been investigated for the first time. A good agreement of the obtained lattice constants with the reported values confirmed the well accuracy of the present calculations. The stiffness constants (Cij) attest the mechanical stability of all title compounds. The mechanical behaviors have been scrutinized discreetly by considering the bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young’s modulus, as well as hardness parameters. The failure mode of Hf2AB (A = Pb, Bi) borides is predicted to be brittle. The electronic band structure and density of states (DOS) revealed the metallic behavior of the titled materials. The anisotropy in electrical conductivity has been disclosed by considering the energy dispersion along different directions. The variation of Vickers hardness is explained in terms of total DOS of Hf2AB (A = Pb, Bi). The anisotropic nature of mechanical properties of the phases has also been studied. The technologically important parameters (Debye temperature, minimum thermal conductivity, and Gruneisen parameter) have also been used to evaluate the thermal behaviors of the titled materials. The possibility of Hf2AB (A = Pb, Bi) for use as coating materials has been assessed by studying the reflectivity.

18 Dec 2014TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a photovoltaic charging station architecture by using a combination of charge controller based on battery charging strategy with the unidirectional PWM technique based on the grid to vehicle strategy in Smart Grid.
Abstract: Utilization of Renewable energy resources is the most important field in a developing country like Bangladesh. Development of an effective method for evaluation of alternative energy sources in the automotive industry has always been a necessity for cost efficient design analysis. One viable energy source is electricity. Electric Vehicle (EV) is the application of this energy. In Bangladesh, Electric vehicle powered by rechargeable batteries are popular day by day. But due to redundancies use of electric energy it is needed to think of alternative sources of energy for running this vehicle. This paper proposed the photovoltaic charging station architecture by using a combination of charge controller based on the battery charging strategy with the unidirectional PWM technique based on the grid to vehicle strategy in Smart Grid. This paper makes a brief introduction and calculation on the power quality research object and takes data like power consumption by running EV. This paper also takes a comparative cost analysis of proposed smart charge station. Consequently, this paper could significantly increase the smart grid system and storage intermittent renewable energy from solar.

17 Dec 2020TL;DR: In this article, the authors used ResNet, Xception, and DenseNet three state-of-the-art deep learning pre-trained models to classify the skin lesions.
Abstract: Skin cancer is the most common kind of cancer across the world and some types of skin cancer are deadly if not identified at the early stage. Therefore, it is crucial to detect the lesion class as early as possible. But skin lesion classification is a very challenging task and many automated systems have been developed so far based on different deep learning algorithms. In this study, we have used ResNet, Xception, and DenseNet three state-of-the-art deep learning pre-trained models to classify the skin lesions. For the training and evaluation of our models, we used the HAM10000 dataset and obtained balanced accuracy of 78%, 82%, and 82% for the three models respectively. We then combined the three models using the weighted ensemble technique without any further training and got 85.8% balanced accuracy and this improved other evaluation parameters as well by a significant amount.

TL;DR: In this article, a defected ground structure (DGS) resonator with a high-band transmission pole was proposed to improve the phase noise of a voltage-controlled oscillator.
Abstract: This letter presents the improvement of the phase noise (PN) of a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) by using a defected ground structure (DGS) resonator with a high-band transmission pole. The proposed DGS resonator has two loops in a coplanar stripline topology. The outer loop is loaded by a series capacitance, which produces the high-band transmission pole. The overall combination has a parallel capacitor to generate the necessary parallel resonance for the VCO operation. This proposed DGS resonator has a sharper impedance and frequency response slope, which results in an improved quality factor. In return, utilization of this DGS resonator into a $K_{U}$ -Band VCO reduces its PN. The prototyped VCO in 0.18- $\mu \text{m}$ CMOS oscillates at 15.52 GHz and shows a PN of −111.27 and −134.07 dBc/Hz at 1- and 10-MHz offset, respectively, while consuming 3.3-mW power. The VCO has a frequency tuning range of 9.5%, which results in a figure of merit (FoM) of −192.7 dB.
