TL;DR: In this article, a brush-painted flexible Ag nanowire (NW) network electrode fabricated by simple brush-painting for cost-efficient FOSCs was proposed. But the experimental results showed that the brush painted Ag NW electrode is a promising alternative to ITO films for cost efficient FOSC, and the electrical, optical, and mechanical properties of the brushpainted Ag NW electrodes were investigated as a function of the number of repeated brushpainting cycles.

TL;DR: Computer-simulated modeling combined with site-directed mutagenesis of GPR92 indicated that Thr97, Gly98, Phe101, and Arg267 of Gpr92 are responsible for the interaction of G PR92 with FPP and NAG.

TL;DR: Current progress in the production of boron nitride nanotube is discussed, focusing on the most common and effective methods that have been well established so far, and various applications of BNNT including polymer composite reinforcement, thermal management packages, piezo actuators, and neutron shielding nanomaterial are presented.
Abstract: Boron nitride nanotube (BNNT) has similar tubular nanostructure as carbon nanotube (CNT) in which boron and nitrogen atoms arranged in a hexagonal network. Owing to the unique atomic structure, BNNT has numerous excellent intrinsic properties such as superior mechanical strength , high thermal conductivity, electrically insulating behavior, piezoelectric property, neutron shielding capability, and oxidation resistance. Since BNNT was first synthesized in 1995, developing efficient BNNT production route has been a significant issue due to low yield and poor quality in comparison with CNT, thus limiting its practical uses. However, many great successes in BNNT synthesis have been achieved in recent years, enabling access to this material and paving the way for the development of promising applications. In this article, we discussed current progress in the production of boron nitride nanotube, focusing on the most common and effective methods that have been well established so far. In addition, we presented various applications of BNNT including polymer composite reinforcement, thermal management packages, piezo actuators, and neutron shielding nanomaterial.

TL;DR: A new system for the study of probiotic immune agents is described and the findings demonstrate that probiotic conditioning with L. acidophilus NCFM modulates specific C. elegans immunity traits.
Abstract: Although the immune response of Caenorhabditis elegans to microbial infections is well established, very little is known about the effects of health-promoting probiotic bacteria on evolutionarily conserved C. elegans host responses. We found that the probiotic Gram-positive bacterium Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM is not harmful to C. elegans and that L. acidophilus NCFM is unable to colonize the C. elegans intestine. Conditioning with L. acidophilus NCFM significantly decreased the burden of a subsequent Enterococcus faecalis infection in the nematode intestine and prolonged the survival of nematodes exposed to pathogenic strains of E. faecalis and Staphylococcus aureus, including multidrug-resistant (MDR) isolates. Preexposure of nematodes to Bacillus subtilis did not provide any beneficial effects. Importantly, L. acidophilus NCFM activates key immune signaling pathways involved in C. elegans defenses against Gram-positive bacteria, including the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway (via TIR-1 and PMK-1) and the β-catenin signaling pathway (via BAR-1). Interestingly, conditioning with L. acidophilus NCFM had a minimal effect on Gram-negative infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium and had no or a negative effect on defense genes associated with Gram-negative pathogens or general stress. In conclusion, we describe a new system for the study of probiotic immune agents and our findings demonstrate that probiotic conditioning with L. acidophilus NCFM modulates specific C. elegans immunity traits.

TL;DR: The sheet resistance of the chemicallydoped graphene film was reduced to half of its original value, resulting in a significant performance enhancement of OSCs featuring doped graphene electrodes.
Abstract: Flexible organic solar cells (OSCs) composed of blended films of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) were fabricated and investigated with chemically doped multilayer graphene films as transparent and conducting electrodes on plastic substrates. The sheet resistance of the chemically doped graphene film was reduced to half of its original value, resulting in a significant performance enhancement of OSCs featuring doped graphene electrodes. Moreover, there was no substantial variation observed in the fill factor and power conversion efficiency values of the flexible OSCs under bending conditions. A power conversion efficiency of 2.5% for flexible OSCs with doped graphene electrodes was observed under bending conditions, even up to a 5.2 mm bending radius.
