TL;DR: Inkjet-printed copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) on silver electrodes were used to fabricate the nonenzymatic glucose biosensor and the effect of interfering species, such as AA, UA, and DA were negligible, whereas sugar derivatives show insignificant interference.
Abstract: Inkjet-printed copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) on silver electrodes were used to fabricate the nonenzymatic glucose biosensor. The inkjet-printed CuO NPs electrodes produced high and reproducible sensitivity of 2762.5 μAm M–1 cm–2 at an applied potential of +0.60 V with the wide linear-detecting range of 0.05–18.45 mM and the detection limit of ∼0.5 μM (S/N = 3). The long-term stability and reproducibility of sensor in glucose electro-oxidation resulted from the chemical stability of CuO NPs and pore-like structure formed on Ag surface, which prevented the CuO NPs from conglomeration and the interference of oxygen in the air. Significantly, the effect of interfering species, such as AA, UA, and DA were negligible, whereas sugar derivatives (lactose, fructose, and mannose) show insignificant interference. Finally, the electrode was applied to analyze glucose concentration in human serum samples.

TL;DR: Osmotic shock treatment was applied directly to wet Chlamydomonas reinhardtii biomass with water content >99%, along with both polar and non-polar organic solvents and successfully determined that specific manipulation of biomass in certain cell phase could enhance lipid recovery further.

TL;DR: A new approach to the automatic execution of business processes using event-condition-action (ECA) rules that can be automatically triggered by an active database is proposed.
Abstract: Changes in recent business environments have created the necessity for a more efficient and effective business process management. The workflow management system is software that assists in defining business processes as well as automatically controlling the execution of the processes. We propose a new approach to the automatic execution of business processes using event-condition-action (ECA) rules that can be automatically triggered by an active database. First of all, we propose the concept of blocks that can classify process flows into several patterns. A block is a minimal unit that can specify the behaviors represented in a process model. An algorithm is developed to detect blocks from a process definition network and transform it into a hierarchical tree model. The behaviors in each block type are modeled using ACTA formalism. This provides a theoretical basis from which ECA rules are identified. The proposed ECA rule-based approach shows that it is possible to execute the workflow using the active capability of database without users' intervention. The operation of the proposed methods is illustrated through an example process.

TL;DR: A unique nanoarchitecture has been established involving polypyrrole (PPy) and graphene nanosheets by in situ polymerization, suggesting the possible use of the nanocomposite as a supercapacitor electrode.
Abstract: A unique nanoarchitecture has been established involving polypyrrole (PPy) and graphene nanosheets by in situ polymerization. The structural aspect of the nanocomposite has been determined by Raman spectroscopy. Atomic force microscopy reveals that the thickness of the synthesized graphene is ~ 2 nm. The dispersion of the nanometer-sized PPy has been demonstrated through transmission electron microscopy and the electrochemical performance of the nanocomposite has been illustrated by cyclic voltammetry measurements. Graphene nanosheet serves as a support material for the electrochemical utilization of PPy and also provides the path for electron transfer. The specific capacitance value of the nanocomposite has been determined to be 267 F g − 1 at a scan rate of 100 mV s − 1 compared to 137 mV s − 1 for PPy, suggesting the possible use of the nanocomposite as a supercapacitor electrode. After 500 cycles, only 10% decrease in specific capacitance as compared to initial value justifies the improved electrochemical cyclic stability of the nanocomposite.

TL;DR: A growing body of evidence demonstrates the potential of various microbes to enhance plant productivity and yield in cropping systems, however, the molecular mechanisms underlying these phenomena, the signals involved as well as the potential applications in a sustainable agriculture approach, and the biotechnological aspects for possible rhizosphere engineering are still matters of discussion.
