Abstract: Impacts of Hall current and irregular heat generation/consumption on two-phase flow of dusty-nanofluid are scrutinized. Particulate nanofluid saturates the stretched surface. Heat transfer mechanism is studied via radiative heating and viscous dissipation aspects. The nanoliquid is a carrier fluid and dust (micro-sized fine particles) particles are suspended in it. Governed equations are remodeled in the form of ordinary differential system using stretching transformations. Numeric solutions are developed via Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg scheme. The influence of pertinent parameters on both nanofluid and particle phase flow fields are studied through graphs. The friction factor and Nusselt number are also studied. It is established that the Hall current has a significant impact on thermal flow fields. The irregular heat generation/consumption aspect is constructive for the heating process.

Abstract: Drainage morphometry provides quantitative description of the drainage system which is an important aspect of the characterisation of watersheds. Chalakudi River is one of the important rivers of the South India which has attracted attention of many environmental scientists recently because of the proposed Athirapally Hydel Project across the river. SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission) data were used for preparing DEM (Digital Elevation Model), Aspect Map and Slope Map. Geographical Information System (GIS) was used for the evaluation of linear, areal and relief aspects of morphometric parameters. The study reveals that the terrain exhibits dentritic and trellis pattern of drainage. The Chalakudi River Basin has a total area of 1,448.73 km2 and is designated as seventh-order basin. The drainage density of the basin is estimated as 2.54 and the lower-order streams mostly dominate the basin. The high basin relief indicates high runoff and sediment transport. The elongation ratio of the Chalakudi Basin is estimated as 0.48 and indicates that the shape of the basin is elongated. The development of stream segments in the basin area is more or less effected by rainfall. Relief ratio indicates that the discharge capability of watershed is very high and the groundwater potential is meagre. The low value of drainage density in spite of mountainous relief indicates that the area is covered by dense vegetation and resistant rocks permeated by fractures and joints. These studies are helpful in watershed development planning and wise utilization of natural resources.

Abstract: Since the era of plant tissue culture bloomed, we have started approaching from a biotechnological perspective to overcome the massive challenges like inducing embryogenesis and organogenesis, initiating rooting, increasing the number of plantlets, establishing a callus from various organs of plants and also enhancing the metabolite content which was a mind-boggling thought once upon a time. Use of various elicitors, altering the media components, the strength of media, pH, precursor feeding etc. have all contributed tremendously in the in-vitro techniques used for culturing rare, endemic and medicinal plants for the commercial purposes. Owing to the demand for the plant products and drugs, the search for the other superior novel methods to increase its quantity and quality has not been stopped. Thus, one such method is the use of chemical compounds with many amino groups which serves as an additional source of nitrogen in the media and these organic compounds are called polyamines. Polyamines are known to play a wide role in plant physiological processes helping them in differentiation, inducing totipotency, increasing cell division and also in molecular signaling. Polyamines have a versatile application in this field ranging from establishing a callus to the elicitation of secondary metabolites. Thus, polyamines can be considered as a boon to the plant tissue culture field. In this review article, we have mainly focused on the in-depth applications of major polyamines like putrescine, spermidine and spermine in the field of plant tissue culture.

Abstract: SARS-CoV-2, the causative virus of the Corona virus disease that was first recorded in 2019 (COVID-19), has already affected over 110 million people across the world with no clear targeted drug therapy that can be efficiently administered to the wide spread victims. This study tries to discover a novel potential inhibitor to the main protease of the virus, by computer aided drug discovery where various major active phytochemicals of the plant Boerhavia diffusa Linn. namely 2-3-4 beta-Ecdysone, Bioquercetin, Biorobin, Boeravinone J, Boerhavisterol, kaempferol, Liriodendrin, quercetin and trans-caftaric acid were docked to SAR-CoV-2 Main Protease using Molecular docking server. The ligands that showed the least binding energy were Biorobin with − 8.17 kcal/mol, Bioquercetin with − 7.97 kcal/mol and Boerhavisterol with − 6.77 kcal/mol. These binding energies were found to be favorable for an efficient docking and resultant inhibition of the viral main protease. The graphical illustrations and visualizations of the docking were obtained along with inhibition constant, intermolecular energy (total and degenerate), interaction surfaces and HB Plot for all the successfully docked conditions of all the 9 ligands mentioned. Additionally the druglikeness of the top 3 hits namely Bioquercetin, Biorobin and Boeravisterol were tested by ADME studies and Boeravisterol was found to be a suitable candidate obeying the Lipinsky’s rule. Since the main protease of SARS has been reported to possess structural similarity with the main protease of MERS, comparative docking of these ligands were also carried out on the MERS Mpro, however the binding energies for this target was found to be unfavorable for spontaneous binding. From these results, it was concluded that Boerhavia diffusa possess potential therapeutic properties against COVID-19.
