TL;DR: A study was conducted in which a computerized battery of information processing tasks was administered to three participant groups: patients with schizophrenia, patients with bipolar disorder, and normal controls, and results indicated that COGLAB correctly classified 75.5% of the cases of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Abstract: Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are two distinct categories of mental disorders in the DSM-IV. However, it is often difficult to make a differential diagnosis because of the overlapping symptoms. A potential adjunct in the classification of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder is the application of information processing models, as patients with schizophrenia and possibly those with bipolar disorder have information processing deficits. A study was conducted in which a computerized battery of information processing tasks (called COGLAB) was administered to three participant groups: patients with schizophrenia, patients with bipolar disorder, and normal controls. The tasks included the Mueller-Lyer illusion, reaction time, size estimation, a variant of the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, backward masking, and Asarnow continuous performance. Discriminant analyses were used to investigate the differences among the three groups. Results indicated that COGLAB correctly classified 75.5% of the cases of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The Mueller-Lyer illusion and the number of perseverative errors on the card sort most powerfully discriminated the two groups.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors applied heavy meson chiral perturbation theory (HMChPT) to the heavy-light strong and weak vertices and assumed to be valid over the whole kinematic region, then the predicted decay rates for nonresonant charmless 3-body B decays will be too large.
Abstract: Nonresonant three-body decays of D and B mesons are studied. It is pointed out that if heavy meson chiral perturbation theory (HMChPT) is applied to the heavy-light strong and weak vertices and assumed to be valid over the whole kinematic region, then the predicted decay rates for nonresonant charmless 3-body B decays will be too large and especially B ! K + K greatly exceeds the current experimental limit. This can be understood as chiral symmetry has been applied there twice beyond its region of validity. If HMChPT is applied only to the strong vertex and the weak transition is accounted for by the form factors, the dominant B pole contribution to the tree-dominated direct three-body B decays will become small and the branching ratio will be of order 10 6 . The decay modes B ! (K h + h )NR and B 0 ! (K 0 h + h )NR for h = ; K are penguin dominated. We apply HMChPT in two dierent cases to study the direct 3-body D decays and compare the results with experiment. Theoretical uncertainties are discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the possibility of fabricating quantum dots under Volmer-Weber growth mode is investigated, and the effect of ZnSe growth duration was investigated, which indicated that carrier confinement plays a dominant role.
Abstract: The possibility of fabricating quantum dots under Volmer–Weber growth mode is investigated. Layers of ZnSe/ZnS were grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition on both Si and GaAs substrates. The images of surface morphology, taken by atomic force microscopy, showed that the layers were grown in three-dimensional islands. Blueshift was observed in the photoluminescence spectra up to room temperature for these samples. This blueshift was shown to originate from the ZnSe islands. The effect of ZnSe growth duration was investigated. It was found that the blueshift increased with shorter ZnSe growth durations, but this near band gap emission disappeared when the ZnSe growth duration was longer than 5 s. Effects of quantum confinement and strain were considered to resolve the origin of the blueshift. Our result suggests that carrier confinement plays a dominant role.

TL;DR: In this article, a benzoxazine-containing triethoxysilane compound is obtained and used as a monomer together with diphenylsilanediol to result in branched benzoxazines-containing polysiloxanes (PBz-PSO) through a 3 + 2 condensation polymerization reaction.
