TL;DR: DNA binding and in silico studies indicated quite good binding with DNA; requirements for good anticancer drugs.
Abstract: Background: Over the last few decades, metal-based drugs, particularly cisplatin and its analogs have been used for the treatment of various cancers. Currently, scientists are developing other metal complexes as anticancer agents to eliminate the toxicity associated with platinum drugs. Results: Claisen-Schmidt condensation was used to synthesize the pyrazoline-based ligand; (5-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(4-fluorophenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-1-carbothioamide), followed by the synthesis of its complexes with copper(II), nickel(II) and iron(III) metal ions. DNA binding and in silico studies indicated quite good binding with DNA; requirements for good anticancer drugs. Conclusion: DNA binding constants for ligand, copper, nickel and iron complexes were 1.42 × 104, 3.16 × 104, 5.82 × 105 and 6.72 × 105 M-1, respectively, indicating strong binding with DNA. All the reported compounds were slightly hemolytic towards rabbit red blood corpuscles and exhibited moderate activities against MCF-7 cancer cell lines.

TL;DR: The fuzzy extension of the CML procedure is made, which extends the fuzzy clustering algorithms of Trauwaert, Kaufman and Rousseeuw by adding a penalty term, and finds that the penalized FCM is more meaningful and effective than FCM.

TL;DR: A novel market segmentation approach, namely the hierarchical self-organizing segmentation model (HSOS), is proposed for dealing with a real-world data set for market segmentations of multimedia on demand in Taiwan.
Abstract: Customer relationship management (CRM) aims at understanding and measuring the true value of customers. Market segmentation is a general method for successful CRM. This paper focuses on approaches that provide a human manager with a visualized decision making tool for market segmentation. We propose a novel market segmentation approach, namely the hierarchical self-organizing segmentation model (HSOS), for dealing with a real-world data set for market segmentation of multimedia on demand in Taiwan. HSOS is able to give a human manager a general idea of market segmentation step by step, which can be considered as a potential alternative approach to other hierarchical cluster approaches for market segmentation.

TL;DR: The study finds that several NPD tools and techniques have a significant effect on the overall performance of NPD and on a number of performance indicators, but that their utilization is not especially high.
Abstract: Utilization of appropriate tools and techniques in the process of new product development (NPD) can assist firms to achieve better performances in launching new products. However, in practice, many useful tools and techniques are not utilized effectively. This study undertakes an in-depth empirical investigation of the appropriate tools or techniques that can be used at each stage of the NPD process. The study also analyzes the impact of individual tools or techniques both on overall NPD performance and on individual performance indicators within the process. The study finds that several NPD tools and techniques (for example, DOE, FMEA/DFMEA, and supplier involvement) have a significant effect on the overall performance of NPD and on a number of performance indicators, but that their utilization is not especially high. In addition, the study finds that DFX, conjoint analysis, and concept test, which also have a significant effect on NPD performance, are relatively neglected by the firms. The study provides valuable guidance to firms in using such tools and techniques more appropriately and effectively.
