TL;DR: In this paper, the effectiveness of passive multiple-tuned mass friction dampers (P-MTMFDs) over a single passive tuned mass friction damper is investigated.
Abstract: The effectiveness of passive multiple-tuned mass friction dampers (P-MTMFDs) over a single passive-tuned mass friction damper (P-TMFD) is investigated. The gov- erning differential equations of motion are solved numeri- cally using state-space method. The response of a five-story structure is investigated for four considered earthquake ground motions. The number of P-TMFD units of P-MTMFDs is varied and the response of five-story structure with single P-TMFD is compared with the response of the same structure with P-MTMFDs. A parametric study is also conducted to investigate the effects of important parameters like number of P-TMFD units in P-MTMFDs, frequency spacing, mass ratio, tuning ratio and damper slip force. It is found that at a given level of excitation; an optimum value of considered important parameters exists at which the peak displacement of structure attains its minimum value. The response time history of the structure with single P-TMFD and P-MTMFDs, with respect to their optimum parameters is compared. It is found that the P-MTMFDs are more effective in controlling the response of the structure to which it is attached in compare to the single P-TMFD having same mass.

TL;DR: The implementation of automated IoT based helthcare system for remotely located patients which helps doctors and guide them accordingly and takes care of supporting the decision making of severity of health conditions is presented.
Abstract: Automated healthcare system is the need and future of healthcare in India. The challenges in implementation of healthcare systems in developing country like India are technology, infrastructure, trained doctors and connectivity among all stakeholders. Due the rapid growth in population providing the healthcare services is becoming difficult day by day specially in rural areas. The remotely located patients are the patients away from doctor but needs his constant monitoring and support. Such as patients in ICU, at home or may be at distant places. The problems also lies in updating doctors of the monitoring parameters and the history of patients time to time. This paper presents the implementation of automated IoT based helthcare system for remotely located patients which helps doctors and guide them accordingly. The system provides alerts by the means of E-mails in case of abnormal conditions observed in the monitoring parameters of the patient. It also takes care of supporting the decision making of severity of health conditions. An example of heart patient monitoring is taken for demonstration of the implemented system. The implemented system is successful to provide an interface among doctors, the nurses in hospitals and the relatives of the patient.

TL;DR: This work suggests Entropy based thresholding in which the maximum information content is used to decide the segmentation rule, and the suggested segmentation algorithm is applied for images of pest infected leaves.
Abstract: Image segmentation is the process of partitioning an image into multiple segments, so as to change the representation of an image into something that is more meaningful and easier to analyze. In modern crop status management in greenhouse, instead of doing manually, crop status is monitored using cameras with some automation. One of the major problems in the greenhouse crop production is the presence of pests. An accurate and timely monitoring of pests population is the basic requirement. In the pest detection, image analysis is very important and image segmentation is one of the desirable steps to distinguish the pest from rest of part of an image. Color image segmentation is desirable than gray scale image segmentation. This work suggests Entropy based thresholding in which the maximum information content is used to decide the segmentation rule. Results are dependent upon a color space selection. The suggested segmentation algorithm is applied for images of pest infected leaves. Results are compared with the results of Fuzzy c-mean method.

TL;DR: Nanostructured bio-photocatalyst hydroxyapatite (HAp) was synthesized by a simple and productive wet chemical precipitation method to explore the photocatalytic performance of the material for degradation of Remazol Brilliant Blue R (RBBR) dye as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Nanostructured bio-photocatalyst hydroxyapatite (HAp) was synthesized by a simple and productive wet chemical precipitation method to explore the photocatalytic performance of the material for degradation of Remazol Brilliant Blue R (RBBR) dye. The as synthesized nano-HAp was characterized through X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, N2-adsorption–desorption, thermo gravimetric analyzer, Fourier transform infrared and UV-Vis absorption techniques. Photocatalytic degradation of RBBR under ultraviolet irradiation was examined and ~ 80 % degradation was achieved in 120 minutes by using nano-HAp. The photocatalytic degradation followed Parabolic Diffusion kinetics. Fast degradation kinetics and removal of RBBR dye was achieved by nano-HAP due to modification of surface entities leading to suppression of photo-generated electron-hole recombination. This makes nano-HAp a remarkable bio-photocatalyst material for removing dyes from water.
