TL;DR: The proposed models can be easily interfaced with the power converter models for designing of entire PV systems, and the parameters like fill factor and characteristic resistance which are useful for MPPT designing are estimated under varying climate conditions.
Abstract: This paper presents the modeling of Photo Voltaic (PV) module using the two different approach using MATLAB/Simulink. The modeling is based on the two diode model of solar cell. Two approaches are used to simulate the PV module, the first is based on the available Simulink library of simscape/simelectronics and second is based on the simulation PV cell current and voltage equations in Simulink environment. The current-voltage (I-V) and Power-Voltage (P-V) characteristics of PV module and significance of each approach is discussed. The inherent nonlinear nature of characteristics is observed. The effect of change in the temperature, sun radiation on the P-V characteristics is observed. The change in Maximum Power Point (MPP) is observed by changing the sun radiation, temperature and other solar cell parameters such as series and shunt resistance. The graphical user interface of system enables any one to analyze the operation of PV module under different environmental conditions and manufacturing specifications. The designed models of PV module could work here as simulator. This work can find its use in implementation of different Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) methods, in which the PV module modelling is necessary. The proposed models can be easily interfaced with the power converter models for designing of entire PV systems. Also the parameters like fill factor and characteristic resistance which are useful for MPPT designing are estimated under varying climate conditions.

TL;DR: A low-cost subcutaneous vein detection system, which uses infrared technique to capture vein images, processes (enhances contrast) these images, and displays them on screen, and these images can also be projected on the limb.
Abstract: The use of infrared radiation for medical diagnosis is a very new concept in the field of medical technology that promises to deliver high-end results. While a very few devices based on infrared technique have been implemented, there still exists a strong need to develop such medical devices. Therefore, our aim is to develop a low-cost subcutaneous vein detection system, which uses infrared technique to capture vein images, processes (enhances contrast) these images, and displays them on screen. These images can also be projected on the limb. This type of system will provide an easy access to the doctor for efficient drug delivery. A vein imaging system has been implemented successfully using the ARM 9 single board computer as the development platform. A customized webcam is used for capturing vein images. Thereafter, contrast enhancement algorithms based on histogram equalization method have been tested, implemented and the experimental results are presented in this paper.

TL;DR: Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme for recognizing American Sign Language using the use of nonlinear time alignment model with key frame selection facility and gesture trajectory features for hand gesture recognition.
Abstract: The sign language recognition is the most popular research area involving computer vision, pattern recognition and image processing. It enhances communication capabilities of the mute person. In this paper, we present an object based key frame selection. Hausdorff distance and Euclidean distance are used for shape similarity for hand gesture recognition. We proposed the use of nonlinear time alignment model with key frame selection facility and gesture trajectory features for hand gesture recognition. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme for recognizing American Sign Language.
