TL;DR: In this paper, the electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI-SE) of nickel nanoparticle-filled high-performance polyetherketone (PEK) nanocomposites produced by using planetary ball milling followed by hot pressing were studied.
Abstract: In this paper, the electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI-SE) of nickel (Ni) nanoparticle-filled high-performance polyetherketone (PEK) nanocomposites produced by using planetary ball milling followed by hot pressing were studied. Field emission scanning electron microscopy showed uniform dispersion of Ni nanoparticles in the PEK matrix. The EMI-SE of the nanocomposites was measured using a vector network analyzer in the frequency range of 8.2–12.4 GHz (X-band). The obtained results indicated that the Ni/PEK nanocomposites exhibit EMI-SE of more than 25 dB. The EMI-SE behavior is superiorly stable over the X-band. The dimensional stability and the Vickers microhardness of the nanocomposites improved by approximately 22% and 42%, respectively, compared to pure PEK. These results showed that the nanocomposites might be potential candidates for EMI shielding and antistatic devices.

01 Oct 2008TL;DR: This paper investigates the performance of single phase direct torque controlled induction motor drive and Unified modeling approach is used to adapt direct torque control of both symmetrical as well as asymmetrical single phase induction motor.
Abstract: Direct torque and flux control of ac machines is well established technique getting increasingly adapted in industry This technique like other high performance control methods such as vector control is rarely applied to single phase machines However, development of high performance low power drives is receiving some attention This paper investigates the performance of single phase direct torque controlled induction motor drive Unified modeling approach is used to adapt direct torque control (DTC) of both symmetrical as well as asymmetrical single phase induction motor It is also demonstrated that it is possible to take winding and angle asymmetry into accounts The drive is simulated using Simulink platform and the results are presented

21 Oct 2013TL;DR: The extended version of BTC is Thepade's sorted Ternary BTC (TSTBTC), which can be further stretched as multi-level TSTBTC and on even odd videos and also applying on intermediate blocks of videos as feature extraction method is proposed in this paper.
Abstract: With the need of efficient video retrieval system, the content based approach is most important part of video retrieval system. As text based video retrieval is degrading its performance with respect to major issue of user's probabilistic perception to a video, so there is need of revision for video retrieval technique by content based style. Content Based Video retrieval (CBVR) is emerging system in any video retrieval applications. The Block Truncation Coding (BTC) [17, 18] is one of the color feature extraction methods in CBVR. The extended version of BTC is Thepade's sorted Ternary BTC (TSTBTC). This TSTBTC can be further stretched as multi-level TSTBTC and on even odd videos and also applying on intermediate blocks of videos as feature extraction method is proposed in this paper. The video data set considered is of 500 videos with 10 categories for experimentation. For testing, including RGB color space, other 6 color spaces are considered (KLUV, YIQ, YUV, YCgCb, YCbCr and XYZ). The similarity between query video and video from database is done by absolute difference (AD) measurement. The performance of method is confirmed by use of precision and recall. The average precisions are calculated for each considered video from database as query. Thus, for each color space average precision is calculated. The height of average precision and recall cross over point is considered hence, better is the height more accurate method is the feature extraction technique. In case of multi-level and even odd videos using TSTBTC, KLUV color space is performed well followed by YIQ color space. In case of intermediate blocks, the YIQ color outclassed followed by KLUV color space.

01 Feb 2018TL;DR: This paper aims at charting the ECG signal using the Raspberry Pi Arm processor and Internet of Things (IOT) concept is used to diagnose the heart defect and abnormalities in ECG without involving expensive ECG machines.
Abstract: The current status of heart disease in India is alarming, with projections suggesting that by the year 2020, the population of heart patients in India will surpass all the countries. Thus, monitoring the electrical activity of heart i.e. electrocardiogram is a necessity rather than luxury. ECG machines available in hospital are rather expensive. This paper aims at charting the ECG signal using the Raspberry Pi Arm processor. The ECG signals are recorded from the patient via the AD8232 ECG module and then this data is digitized using serial ADC MCP3008. The processor maps the signal on an online graphics tool plotl.ly using python programming. The main advantage of this system is that the result can be viewed at any place at any time. In this way, Internet of Things (IOT) concept is used to diagnose the heart defect and abnormalities in ECG without involving expensive ECG machines.

01 Aug 2018TL;DR: An Internet of Things System architecture for Indoor and Outdoor Environment Monitoring Applications which consists of two sensor nodes and a gateway, the Raspberry Pi is used as gateway which transfers data to a IBM Cloud where data were stored and visualized as graphs and analyzed to make decisions.
Abstract: Rapid Growth in the industrialization, urbanization and population is creating environmental problems. To reduce these environmental problems and provide better environment it becomes necessity that environment should be continuously monitored. This paper proposes an Internet of Things System architecture for Indoor and Outdoor Environment Monitoring Applications. The system consists of two sensor nodes and a gateway. Gateway collect data from sensor node at regular intervals and then publishes on a cloud so that we can analyze the data and make the appropriate decisions. For long deployment of wireless sensor node, the light energy harvesting power supply system and energy management system is developed with help of solar panel and electronic components. The Raspberry Pi is used as gateway which transfers data to a IBM Cloud where data were stored and visualized as graphs and analyzed to make decisions. Node-RED platform is used to program the Gateway.
