TL;DR: The Soufriere volcano in Guadeloupe island delivered a phreatic eruption that commenced on July 8th, 1976 and lasted until March 1st, 1977 as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The Soufriere volcano in Guadeloupe island delivered a phreatic eruption that commenced on July 8th, 1976 and lasted until March 1st, 1977. This eruption was similar to the 1797, 1798, 1809 and 1956 outbreaks. Phreatic activity ejected blocks derived from the fissure walls and fine pyroclasts produced by hydrothermal alteration of the old dome’s rocks. Field observations and measurements allowed the present authors to calculate the mass and energy transfer of steam and ashes: 107 tons of water (very low considering that on the mountain summit the annual precipitation is 10 tons m)2,106 m3 of ashes. The most important energy transfers was thermal: about 5 × 1020 ergs for each phreatic eruption. The total kinetic energy output was 2 × 1019 ergs for a total thermal energy output of 64 × 1020 ergs. The gases and fine pyroclasts did pollute the atmosphere, waters and soils and consequently affected the population living on the slopes of the volcano.

TL;DR: It is shown how the theorem on maximum rate (Lavenberg) can be applied to stochastic Petri nets and a general purpose evaluation software tool allows the numerical evaluation of maximum throughput rates.
Abstract: This paper introduces some principles and tools which can be used to evaluate the maximum throughput of a class of computing processes The function of these processes is to manage queues in computer systems (device handlers, communication protocols) Our approach is based upon stochastic Petri net models We show how the theorem on maximum rate (Lavenberg) can be applied to stochastic Petri nets This theoretical result and a general purpose evaluation software tool allows the numerical evaluation of maximum throughput rates As an example, the maximum throughput of a full duplex protocol is computed

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors study the investment and employment policy through a business cycle for a firm which maximizes its discounted income under the assumption that the forecasts are perfectly correct, and the results obtained are, on the whole, quite consistent with the behaviours observed in the last years, and explain some of the features of recessions.

TL;DR: In the early 1970s, social scientists started studying the details of the scientific research process, and they first tried to phrase their observations in the then traditional framework provided by sociologists and historians of science, i.e. how internal and external factors contributed to the production of science as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: When social scientists started studying the details of the scientific research process, they first tried to phrase their observations in the then traditional framework provided by sociologists and historians of science, i.e. how internal and external factors contributed to the production of science. The term ‘external’ refers to concepts invented by social scientists and economists such as ‘group’, ‘profession’, ‘institution’, ‘culture’, ‘influence’ and so on. Terms considered ‘internal’ were folk terms used by scientists and some philosophers such as ‘coherence’, ‘logics’, ‘problems’, ‘objectivity’, ‘rules of method’ and so on. A few concepts also had to be invented such as ‘paradigm’, ‘themata’ or ‘episteme’ in order to account for observations that did not fit inside the internal/external frame of reference.

TL;DR: By reaction of sulfuryl fluoride with the lithium salts of phenols, at -60°, the authors synthetized sterically hindered aryl fluorosulfates (2a[sbnd]c) having a t-butyl group in the 2 and 6 positions.
By reaction of sulfuryl fluoride with the lithium salts of phenols (1[sbnd]c), at -60°, we have synthetized, in high yield, the first sterically hindered aryl fluorosulfates (2a[sbnd]c) having a t-butyl group in the 2 and 6 positions.

Abstract: New lines and a strong relative intensity enhancement has been observed in the L to M2 radiative Auger spectrum of argon for 270+or-2eV electron impact. These lines appear in the 170-200eV spectral range. The new radiative transitions involved are (2p)-1 to (3s)-1(3p)-1nl and (2p)-1 to (3s)-2 nl.

TL;DR: In this article, a PbMoO4 Bragg cell working with longitudinal acoustic waves was used for dispersion and scanning of light, which gave a mean resolving power of 4.5 Å for the main lines available from the laser.
Abstract: 2014 Intrinsic and experimental features of a high speed spectroscopic device are defined and calculated. For the dispersion and scanning of light, we use a PbMoO4 Bragg cell working with longitudinal acoustic waves. The acoustic frequencies vary in the 150 to 300 MHz range. The light source used in this experiment is an Ar ion laser. The device described in this paper gives a mean resolving power of 4.5 Å for the main lines available from the laser. The resolution is not depending on the scanning rate which affects the analysing spectral range. With an appropriate detection set up, the whole visible spectrum range can be analysed in 100 03BCs or less. Revue Phys. Appl. 15 (1980) 1409-1413 AOÛT 1980, Classification Physics Abstracts 42.80
