TL;DR: In this article, a method for separating the relative contribution of the dye and the matrix in the total attenuation of light is proposed for fluorescent solar concentrators using liquid solutions of organic dyes.
Abstract: Various aspects of fluorescent solar concentrators using liquid solutions of organic dyes are considered. No significant difference in efficiency is observed between various collector geometries. The origins of light losses are carefully examined. A method is proposed for separating the relative contribution of the dye and the matrix in the total attenuation of light. Special attention is paid to light losses by imperfect multiple reflections and by reabsorption of fluorescence photons. Attenuation lengths in collectors using a thin layer of concentrated solution are significantly longer.

TL;DR: In this paper, the radiative Auger emission intensity in K X-rays from neon was measured following electron bombardment by 1 to 2 keV electrons and the measured relative intensities of this process were in good agreement with calculations of Dyall using correlated final-state wavefunctions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the sensitivity and time constant of a thermophile made of semiconducting thin thermoelements with a radial symmetry and operating in a vacuum was calculated using a simple model.
Abstract: Using a simple model, sensitivity and time constant of a thermophile made of semiconducting thin thermoelements with a radial symmetry and operating in a vacuum, have been calculated. The radiation flux, collected by a metal disc covered with a thick layer of gold black, flows to the heat reservoir at constant temperature T 0 surrounding the receiver by conduction and thermal radiation.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the kinetics of hydrolysis of D- and L-histidine methyl esters in the presence of crosslinked hydrophilic polymeric supports bearing Lhistidine moieties complexed with Ni2+ salt.
Abstract: The kinetics of hydrolysis of D- and L-histidine methyl ester were studied in the presence of crosslinked hydrophilic polymeric supports bearing L-histidine moieties complexed with Ni2+ salt. The selectivity of hydrolysis (kD/kL ratio) rises with the increase of the hydrophilic character (content of monomeric units of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) of the resin. It varies with the ratio ester / catalytic moiety, the best result being obtained when the latter is close to 1. The selectivity depends on the temperature and an inversion of this selectivity is observed at 31°C. The optimization of all the parameters studied allowed to reach the same enantioselectivity and comparable rates of hydrolysis as observed in a model reaction carried out under homogeneous conditions.
