Abstract: The fluctuations of the vortex density in a turbulent quantum fluid are deduced from local second-sound attenuation measurements. These measurements are performed with a micromachined open-cavity resonator inserted across a flow of turbulent He-II near 1.6 K. The frequency power spectrum of the measured vortex line density is compatible with a (−5/3) power law. The physical interpretation is discussed.

Abstract: In his 1979 lectures at the College de France, The Birth of Biopolitics, Michel Foucault discussed and analyzed Gary Becker’s economic theory of crime and punishment, originally published in The Journal of Political Economy in 1968 under the title “Crime and Punishment: An Economic Approach.” In this historic, second encounter at the University of Chicago, Gary Becker responds to Foucault’s lectures and possible critical readings of his writings on crime and punishment, in conversation with Professors Francois Ewald (who was, at the time in 1979, Foucault’s assistant at the College and one of Foucault’s closest interlocutors) and Bernard Harcourt (a punishment theorist and an editor of Foucault’s lectures). The rich encounter explores potential overlaps, complementarities, and conflicts between Foucault’s theoretical work on punishment (both in Birth of Biopolitics and Discipline and Punish) and Becker’s economic theory of crime, builds on the previous confrontation over American neoliberalism, and provides a bridge between contemporary French philosophy and American economic theory.

Abstract: Measuring gravity from an aircraft is essential in geodesy, geophysics and exploration. It fills a gap between satellite techniques which have a low spatial resolution and traditional ground measurements which can only be performed on ground in accessible areas. Today, only relative sensors are available for airborne gravimetry. This is a major drawback because of the calibration and drift estimation procedures which lead to important operational constraints and measurement errors. Here, we report an absolute airborne gravimeter based on atom interferometry. This instrument has been first tested on a motion simulator leading to gravity measurements noise of 0.3 mGal for 75 s filtering time constant. Then, we realized an airborne campaign across Iceland in April 2017. From repeated line and crossing points, we obtain gravity measurements with an estimated error between 1.7 and 3.9 mGal. The airborne measurements have also been compared to upward continued ground gravity data and show differences with a standard deviation ranging from 3.3 to 6.2 mGal and a mean value ranging from − 0.7 to − 1.9 mGal.

Abstract: Objective: To compare the efficacy of latanoprost, bimato­prost and travoprost for lowering IOP in patients with glaucoma.Research design and methods: In order to carry out this meta-analysis, randomized trials (2001–2004) were identified on Medline and EMBASE using the following key words: glaucoma, ocular hypertension (OHT), random­ization, trial, latanoprost, bimatoprost and travoprost. The studies had to compare at least two prostaglandin analogues as mono-therapy. Cross-over experimental designs were excluded. The main outcome measure was IOP at final visit. Statistical analyses included random effects, pooled estimates of treatment effects, tests for publication bias, and random-effects models to obtain adjusted treatment effects on final IOP after lowering for baseline IOP, and duration of follow-up. Random effects Poisson regression models were used to estimate the adjusted effects of treatments on response rates (IOP < 18 mmHg).Results: Nine studies were used in the analysis.
