TL;DR: In this paper, the deformation of poly(acrylic acid) and chitin whiskers using evaporation method was monitored for deformation and the Raman band at 1622 cm−1 was found to shift towards a lower wavenumber.
Abstract: Composites of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and chitin whiskers were prepared using evaporation method. The weight fraction of chitin whiskers (CHW) was varied from 73 to 23%. Raman was utilised for the first time to monitor the deformation of chitin film and chitin-reinforced PAA composites. The Raman band located at 1622 cm−1 was monitored for deformation. On application of tensile force, the Raman band initially found at 1622 cm−1 corresponding to the single H-bonded amide one spectrum shifted towards a lower wavenumber. Raman band shift rates of − 1.85 cm−1/% for chitin film and − 0.25, − 0.59 and − 0.59 cm−1/% for 23, 43 and 73 wt% CHW whiskers, respectively, were obtained. The Young modulus of composites materials and whiskers were 37, 16 and 115 GPa, respectively, for a two-dimensional in-plane distribution of CHW. CHW within PAA did not show any preferential alignment. At high volume or weight of PAA or low weight CHW (3, 11% chitin) monitoring of the Raman peak shift was difficult.

TL;DR: Papaya has been found to contain phytochemicals, serving Antimicrobial, Anthelmintic, Antimalarial including Pharmacological purposes, which aid in the development of human/animal nutrition, healthcare, industrial including pharmaceutical production.
Abstract: From time immemorial fruits have always played a major role in Human nutrition, in addition to playing a crucial role in pharmaceutical/industrial production of consumable products. Papaya (Carica papaya Linn.) has been shown to have high value of medicinal properties, serving numerous treatments in traditional/herbal medication. Papaya has been found to contain phytochemicals, serving Antimicrobial, Anthelmintic, Antimalarial including Pharmacological purposes. Other part of Papaya like the seed including the skin have also been found to contain unique chemicals which aid in the development of human/animal nutrition, healthcare, industrial including pharmaceutical production.

TL;DR: The prevalence of paragonimiasis and crab-eating behavior in Southeastern Nigeria was significantly higher among females than males and this was comparable between males and females and between communities within each ethnocultural group.
Abstract: This work was aimed at assessing the prevalence of paragonimiasis and crab-eating behavior in Southeastern Nigeria. Sputum examinations and questionnaire administration were carried out. Prevalence was 13.2% and was significantly higher among females (14.6%) than males (11.2%) (). Overall, 77.2% of respondents across the communities eat crabs, and this was comparable between males (76.4%) and females (77.6%) (). The prevalence was comparable between the two ethnocultural groups and between communities within each ethnocultural group ( for both tests). The mean age of crab eaters was 43 years, while that of noncrab eaters was 26 years. Many (46.3%) infected individuals presented low intensity infections (1–50 eggs/ova per 5 mL−1 sputum), while 28.8% and 23.8% presented moderate (51–100 eggs/ova per 5 mL−1 sputum) and high (above 100 eggs/ova per 5 mL−1 sputum) intensity infections, respectively. Infection risk among weekly eaters of crabs was 3 times higher than that of monthly eaters (OR 3.68), 19 times higher than that of quarterly eaters (OR 19.0), and 9 times higher than that of irregular eaters (OR 9.38). Concerted awareness campaign is needed to curb the renewed increase of the scourge in endemic Southeastern Nigeria.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the self-reported and objective behaviour of driving within posted speed limits for a sample of fleet drivers and found that drivers' attitude was the most significant predictor and strongest correlate with intentions to comply with the speed limit in both work and private vehicle.
Abstract: Existing evidence suggests that drivers, particularly those who work in companies with strong road safety cultures exhibit different sets of speeding attitudes and behaviours in work and private driving. Using Ajzen and Fishbein’s (1980) Theory of Planned behaviour (TPB) and on-road driving experiments, this study examined the self-reported and objective behaviour of driving within posted speed limits for a sample of fleet drivers. The findings show that the TPB explained up to 24% of the variance in intention to comply with speed limits. Drivers’ attitude emerged as the most significant predictor and strongest correlate with intentions to comply with the speed limit in both work and private vehicle. Further analysis revealed participants had a higher intention to comply with speed limits in their work than private vehicle. Also, investigation of the relationship between TPB variables and observed speeding behaviour suggests that participants with higher intention to comply with the speed limit or high perceived behavioural control (PBC), exceeded the speed limit less often than those with lower intention to comply with the speed limit or low PBC. The findings have important theoretical and applied implications for development of better speed limit compliance interventions to improve driving behaviour, and road safety in general.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss and deal with the strategic interests and the media and how radio has especially been used worldwide as a tool by a number of countries to safeguard their national interests.
Abstract: Media has also been used as psychological warfare and a propaganda tool, particularly during times of wars and acts of insurgency It has been used as a tool while fighting the wars and boosting the morale of the security forces across the nations Propaganda, although it has existed almost indefinitely, has grown immensely during the past few centuries as a most strategic tool to guard the strategic interests of the nations The propaganda was bolstered by the invention of the radio The ability to communicate orally with a large number of people in a very small amount of time also helped the development of propaganda This form of mass media has been used as the most effective tool with the government agencies to put forth their news and views Radio has strategically suited governments across the globe to fight psychological wars by airing propaganda into the territories of the neighbouring countries Since Radio is affordable and speaks in a local language and customs to a very common man, it has definitely an edge over other formats of communication when it comes to the question of guarding the strategic interests of a nation This research discusses and deals with the strategic interests and the media and how radio has especially been used worldwide as a tool by a number of countries to safeguard their national interests This chapter touches upon some theories and elements of propaganda, the use of radio during world wars and how countries guarded their strategic interests in the Cold War and Post-Cold War era
