Abstract: Bianchi identities for nonempty spaces have been written in terms of three tensorsGab, Hab andKab obtained from Petrov's spacetime-matter tensor. It is then specialized for a space-time, filled with dustlike particles exerting no pressure. This formulation then has been applied for the study of the kinematical properties of some known models of the universeviz. those of Einstein, Godel and Friedmann. We have shown that our formalism of the Bianchi identities for a physical situation gives correct information for the kinematical properties.
