Abstract: An exact similarity solution for a spherical magnetogasdynamic shock is obtained in the case when radiation energy, radiation pressure and radiative heat flux are important. The total energy of the shock wave increase with time. We have shown that due to the magnetic field the flow variables are considerably changed. Also, due to increases in radiation pressure number the radiation flux is increased.

TL;DR: It is suggested that inhibition of germination is caused by reduced synthesis of amylase which is not mediated through gibberelic acid.
Abstract: Certain aspects of selective toxicity of 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine (1,3,7-T), a natural herbicide, were studied inPhaseolus mungo andAmaranthus spinosus. Treatment of seeds ofA. spinosus with 1,3,7-T (sub-lethal concentration) caused a marked decrease (29.5%) in amylase activity. Kinetic studies with respect to substrate saturation and Km values as well asin vitro treatments of the cell-free enzyme indicated no effect on its catalytic property. The inhibitory effect of 1,3,7-T on amylase activity could not be counteracted with treatments of GA3. A general biochemical analysis revealed that the starch/sugar ratio increased in the seedlings grown from treated seeds. Analysis also showed a higher ratio for insoluble/soluble nitrogen. It is suggested that inhibition of germination is caused by reduced synthesis of amylase which is not mediated through gibberelic acid. Treatment of seeds ofPhaseolus mungo with, 1,3,7-T. caused no change in amylase activity,in vivo nitrate reductase activity, ethanol soluble and insoluble nitrogen and protein content.

TL;DR: In this paper, the photoelectroactivity of polycrystalline zinc selenide films prepared by electrochemical codeposition in zinc sulphate solutions of different concentrations containing theI−/I2 redox couple has been investigated.
Abstract: The photoelectroactivity of polycrystalline zinc selenide films prepared by electrochemical codeposition in zinc sulphate solutions of different concentrations containing theI−/I2 redox couple has been investigated. Measured photopotentials, photocurrents and the initial rate of build-up of photopotentials indicate a significant enhancement in photoelectro-convertibility with increase in concentration, in spite of practically no change in the flat band potentials. The photoelectroactivity of ap-n heterojunction photoelectrochemical cell using cadmium selenide along with zinc selenide has also been studied.

TL;DR: In this article, an octahedral geometry has been established for all the ruthenium(III) complexes except [Ru(L″)Cl2]n, which is pentacoordinate and a trigonal-bipyramidal environment, D3h, has been suggested for the RIT ion.
Abstract: Ruthenium(III) complexes of types [Ru(L)3], [Ru(L′)Cl(H2O)2], [Ru(L″)Cl2]n, [Ru(L‴)Cl(H2O)]n(LH =Schiff bases derived from anthranilic acid and benzaldehyde, acetophenone, vanillin, cinnamaldehyde orm-hydroxyacetophenone; L′H2=Schiff bases derived from anthranilic acid and salicylaldehyde oro-hydroxyacetophenone; L″H=Schiff bases derived fromp-aminobenzoic acid and benzaldehyde, acetophenone, vanillin, cinnamaldehyde orm-hydroxyacetophenone; L‴H2=Schiff bases derived fromp-aminobenzoic acid and salicylaldehyde oro-hydroxyacetophenone) have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, conductance, magnetic moment and spectral (electronic, i.r. and1H n.m.r.) data. The wavelengths of the principal electronic absorption peaks have been accounted for quantitatively in terms of crystal field theory and various parameters have been evaluated. On the basis of the electronic spectra, an octahedral geometry has been established for all these complexes except [Ru(L″)Cl2]n. The complexes [Ru(L″)Cl2]n are pentacoordinate and a trigonal-bipyramidal environment, D3h, is suggested for the ruthenium(III) ion. The thermal behaviour of these complexes has also been studied by t.g., d.t.g and d.s.c techniques. Heats of reaction for the decomposition steps were calculated from the d.s.c. curves. The antifungal and antiviral activities of the complexes with Schiff bases derived from anthranilic acid were also investigated.

TL;DR: In this article, the results of viscosity measurements on several samples of lithium-potassium copolyphosphates (Li:K ratio ranging from 9:1 to 5:5) in salt-free aqueous solutions and in theta solvents are reported.
Abstract: The results of viscosity measurements on several samples of lithium-potassium copolyphosphates (Li:K ratio ranging from 9:1 to 5:5) in salt-free aqueous solutions and in theta solvents are reported. Molecular weights determined by end-group titration ranged from 4000–10000. In aqueous solutions the Fuoss equation parameter A was found to be nearly proportional to the square of molecular weights, indicating rod-like structures of the poly-ions at infinite dilution. The concentrations of NaBr solutions acting as theta solvents at 35°C were determined for all cases and the viscosity data in θ-solvents were utilized in calculating unperturbed dimensions which were found to lie in the range 4.7×10−7 cm to 7.4×10−7 cm.

Abstract: The kinetics of oxidation of ethyldigol by vanadium(V) in aqueous acidic medium has been carried out. The reaction is first order with respect to vanadium(V) and the substrate and is acid catalysed.Hammett acidity function (H0) andBunnett hypothesis have been applied. The formation of free radicals during the course of the reaction has been indicated. A probable reaction mechanism is proposed.

TL;DR: In this article, a system of 2m damped coupled nonlinear oscillators is considered when the nonlinear and coupling terms are of homogeneous even power 4p in position variables, and a convenient canonical transformation to remove the damping term from the equation of motion and action and angle variables in Hamilton-Jacobi theory is obtained.
Abstract: A system of 2m damped coupled nonlinear oscillators is considered when the nonlinear and coupling terms are of homogeneous even power 4p in position variables. Using a convenient canonical transformation to remove the damping term from the equation of motion and action and angle variables in Hamilton-Jacobi theory, first order corrected frequencies are obtained. The expression for the corrected frequencies bears all the characteristic features of a damped coupled nonlinear oscillator system.
