TL;DR: In this paper, the reactions of bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV)/zirconium(IV) dichloride with a new class of organometallic thiosemicarbazones (LH), derived by condensing acetylferrocene with substituted thiOSEmicarazides, have been studied and two types of bimetallic products, viz.
Abstract: The reactions of bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV)/zirconium(IV) dichloride with a new class of organometallic thiosemicarbazones (LH), derived by condensing acetylferrocene with substituted thiosemicarbazides, have been studied and two types of bimetallic products, viz. [Cp2M(L)Cl] (M = Ti or Zr) and [CpZr(L)3], have been isolated. On the basis of various physicochemical and spectral studies, five- and seven-coordinate structures have been assigned to these derivatives, respectively. Attempts have been made to establish a correlation between biological activity and the structures of the products.

TL;DR: Urinary corticoids were markedly elevated in breast cancer patients irrespective of the stage of the disease in comparison with healthy controls and after mastectomy, the values of all three variables declined markedly, approaching usual values with a circadian rhythm resembling the pattern found in clinical health.
Abstract: The circadian periodicity of urinary 17-ketogenic steroids (17-KGS), 17-ketosteroids (17-KS) and creatinine (Cr) was studied preoperatively and on the 9th postoperative day in 25 histopathologically proved breast cancer patients and in 15 healthy Indian women under tropical conditions. A statistically significant rhythm was observed in healthy participants for all three variables. Urinary corticoids were markedly elevated in breast cancer patients irrespective of the stage of the disease in comparison with healthy controls. The degree of elevation was more pronounced preoperatively in advanced stage breast cancer in comparison with other groups. After mastectomy, the values of all three variables declined markedly, approaching usual values with a circadian rhythm resembling the pattern found in clinical health.

TL;DR: In this article, substitution reactions of anhydrous copper(II) acetate with some higher carboxylic acids and hydroxycarboxylate anions were carried out in toluene under reflux.
Abstract: Substitution reactions of anhydrous copper(II) acetate with some higher carboxylic acids and hydroxycarboxylic acids were carried out in toluene under reflux. The isolated products; Cu(OOCR)(OOCR′), Cu(OOCR)(OOCR″) and Cu(OOCR)(OOCR″′) [where R = C13H27, C17H35 or C21H43 and R′ = C6H4OH, R″ = C6H5CH(OH) and R″′ = (C6H5)2C(OH)] were characterized by elemental analyses, spectral (infrared and electronic) analyses and conductivity measurements. IR spectra suggest the presence of bidentate-bridging coordination of carboxylate anions in the complexes. Magnetic moment measurement and electron spin resonance spectral data suggest antiferromagnetic coupling between two copper atoms. The dinuclear nature of the complexes was confirmed by molecular weight determinations.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a general star formation law where star formation rate depends upon efficiency of star formation, such as the timescale and surface mass density of a star, and a real exponent of the Schmidt exponent.
Abstract: We present a general star formation law where star formation rate depends upon efficiency $\alpha$, timescale $\tau$ of star formation, gas component $\sigma_{g}$ of surface mass density and a real exponent $n$. A given exponent $n$ determines $\tau$ which however yields the corresponding star formation rate. Current nominal Schmidt exponent $n_{s}$ for our model is $2

TL;DR: The NMR studies in DMSO show that the peptides exist in solution as a mixture of conformations, which is in line with molecular dynamics simulations where beta-turns were found to occur with a low frequency and with energies 10 to 17 kcal/mole higher than the global minimum structure.
Abstract: Peptide-T (ASTTTNYT) and its D-Ala analog (D-ASTTTNYT-NH2) have been designed to block the adsorption of HIV to CD4 receptors on T-cell lymphocytes, thus inhibiting viral infectivity. The conformation of these important peptides has been investigated by 2D-NMR and molecular dynamics simulations. The NMR studies in DMSO show that the peptides exist in solution as a mixture of conformations. beta-Turns and non-specific folded conformations are present in a small proportion in the ensemble of conformations, which is largely dominated by more or less extended structures. This result is in line with molecular dynamics simulations where beta-turns were found to occur with a low frequency and with energies 10 to 17 kcal/mole higher than the global minimum structure. Our findings differ from previous reports on the conformation of peptide-T determined by NMR.

TL;DR: In this paper, both ternary and quaternary blends were made from Portland cement clinker, bag house dust, granulated blast furnace slag and gypsum.
Abstract: Ternary and quaternary blends were made from Portland cement clinker, bag house dust, granulated blast furnace slag and gypsum. Hydration properties were studied by determining free lime, non-evaporable water contents, setting times, compressive strength etc. X-ray diffraction patterns of some of the hydrated samples were also recorded. The results have shown that in the presence of an appropriate amount of bag house dust and gypsum, the limitations of slag cements can be removed. The mechanism of hydration has been discussed.
