TL;DR: The 16S-like ribosomal RNA genes from Mallomonas papillosa and Tribonema aequale Pascher (Xanthophyceae) were sequenced and compared to those of other eukaryotes as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The 16S-like ribosomal RNA genes from Mallomonas papillosa Harris et Bradley (Synurophyceae) and Tribonema aequale Pascher (Xanthophyceae) were sequenced and compared to those of other eukaryotes. Mallomonas is closely related to Ochromonas (Chrysophyceae) and supports the general hypothesis of a close phylogenetic relationship between the Synurophyceae and Chrysophyceae. Tribonema is specifically related to Costaria costata (C. A. Agardh) Saunders (Phaeophyceae) demonstrating an unexpected phylogenetic relationship between the Xanthophyceae and Phaeophyceae. Distance and parsimony analysis place these four chromophyte genera in a complex evolutionary assemblage that includes the Bacillariophyceae and Oomycetes but excludes the Dinophyceae. The close relationship between the chromophyte algae and the Oomycete fungi supports the hypothesis that protists with tripartite hairs form a natural assemblage.

TL;DR: The ANOVA results show that age and the Web consumers’ shopping experience are significant factors; a generation gap is identified for all but one experience good and a interaction effect between age and Web shopping experience for one credence good.
Abstract: This study explores how age and consumers' Web shopping experience influence the search, experience, and credence (SEC) ratings of products and services in online shopping. Using the survey data collected from 549 consumers, we investigated how they perceived the uncertainty of product quality on six search, experience, and credence goods. The ANOVA results show that age and the Web consumers' shopping experience are significant factors. A generation gap is identified for all but one experience good. Web shopping experience is not a significant factor for search goods but is for experience and credence goods. There is an interaction effect between age and Web shopping experience for one credence good. Implications of these results are discussed.

TL;DR: The main result of this paper is to show that the trace semantics is fully abstract for may testing, the first such result for a concurrent object language.
Abstract: This paper provides a fully abstract semantics for a variant of the concurrent object calculus. We define may testing for concurrent object components and then characterise it using a trace semantics inspired by UML interaction diagrams. The main result of this paper is to show that the trace semantics is fully abstract for may testing. This is the first such result for a concurrent object language.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the impact of ownership structure and changes in the deposit insurance system on the market for bank time deposits in Poland and found that depositors exacted a price for risk-taking.
Abstract: This paper examines the impact of ownership structure and changes in the deposit insurance system on the market for bank time deposits in Poland. In an environment of less restrictive bank supervision and a deposit insurance policy that favored state banks, we find that depositors exacted a price for risk-taking. After a new law increasing insurance coverage for private banks went into effect, however, bank specific variables became less important in explaining differences in deposit interest rates. We report, however, that the three fully guaranteed state banks pay significantly lower rates than private banks. Moreover, other state-owned banks, with the same explicit guarantee as private banks, pay significantly lower rates than private banks, so it appears that depositors treat these state-owned banks as if they have a larger implicit guarantee.

TL;DR: Work drive as mentioned in this paper is a personality measure that predicts academic performance at six different grade levels, even beyond Big Five personality traits, and has been shown to correlate with academic performance in a study with 23,823 individuals.
Abstract: Using six studies based on 23,823 individuals in diverse settings, we developed and validated a personality measure of Work Drive—a disposition to work long hours and extend oneself for one's job. The factor structure was confirmed in four settings. Work Drive was related to job performance showing incremental validity beyond cognitive aptitude and Big Five personality traits in five validation studies. It predicted academic performance at six different grade levels, even beyond Big Five traits. Construct validity was examined via work values, job involvement, normal personality scales, satisfaction measures, and cognitive ability. Little adverse impact was found. Occupational groups differed on Work Drive. Overall validity and areas of application were discussed.
