TL;DR: In this paper, the behavior of fractional integral operators associated to a measure on a metric space satisfying a mild growth condition is investigated, namely that the measure of each ball is controlled by a fixed power of its radius.
Abstract: The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the behaviour of fractional integral operators associated to a measure on a metric space satisfying just a mild growth condition, namely that the measure of each ball is controlled by a fixed power of its radius. This allows, in particular, non-doubling measures. It turns out that this condition is enough to build up a theory that contains the classical results based upon the Lebesgue measure on euclidean space and their known extensions for doubling measures. We start by analyzing the images of the Lebesgue spaces associated to the measure. The Lipschitz spaces, defined in terms of the metric, play a basic role too. For a euclidean space equipped with one of these measures, we also consider the so-called "regular"BMO space introduced by X. Tolsa. We show that it contains the image of a Lebesgue space in the appropriate limit case and also that the image of the space "regular"BMO is contained in the adequate Lipschitz space.

TL;DR: Aid in understanding issues surrounding the construct validity of fatigue including the distinction between pathological versus nonpathological fatigue.
Abstract: Aid in understanding issues surrounding the construct validity of fatigue including the distinction between pathological versus nonpathological fatigue. Fatigue is a universal symptom reported by individuals in the general population as well as by those suffering from different medical and psychological illnesses, including cancer, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, and anxiety. Chronic fatigue is a significant problem in many primary care settings, and the debilitating and prolonged nature of fatigue can pose significant economic consequences for society. Researchers have struggled to better assess and understand the etiology and classification of fatigue within different illness groups.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the role of significant relationships in the academic experiences of Mexican American college students and found that parents were the most frequently cited sources of support and played a significant role in motivating students in their education.
Abstract: Using a social capital framework, the aim of this study was to examine the role of significant relationships in the academic experiences of Mexican American college students. Qualitative in-depth interviews were conducted with 10 students and 12 of the individuals in their lives who were considered important sources of support. Grounded theory was used to analyze data and various steps, such as member-checking, were taken to enhance the credibility of findings. Parents, peers, siblings, extended family members, and unrelated adults supported these students academically. Parents were the most frequently cited sources of support and played a significant role in motivating students in their education. However, because parents’ relatively low educational status limited the kind of support they could provide, students also benefited from nonparental sources of support. There were five forms of support (e.g., emotional support, cognitive guidance) used to guide students in eight aspects of school life (e.g., co...

TL;DR: The trucking occupation places drivers at high risk for poor health outcomes and Prospective studies are needed to delve into how continued exposure to trucking influences the progression of disease burden.
Abstract: OBJECTIVE: While trucking in industrialized nations is linked with driver health afflictions, the role of trucking in U.S. truckers' health remains largely unknown. This paper sheds light on links between the trucking work environment and drivers' physical health. METHODS: Using a cross-sectional design, 316 truckers were enrolled in the Healthy Trucker Survey. Questions included work history, physical and mental health, and healthcare access. PASW 18 was used to examine patterns among factors. PARTICIPANTS: 316 truckers participated. RESULTS: Respondents were mainly full-time, long-haul drivers with over 5 years of experience, and who spent over 17 days on the road per month. While almost 75% described their health as good, 83.4% were overweight/obese, 57.9% had sleeping disturbances, 56.3% fatigue, 42.3% musculoskeletal disorders, and about 40% cardiovascular disease concerns. About 33% had no health insurance, 70% had no regular healthcare visits, 24.4% could not afford insurance, and 42.1% took over-the-counter drugs when sick, while 20.1% waited to reach home for medical care. Exercise facilities were unavailable in over 70% of trucking worksites and 70% of drivers did not exercise regularly.CONCLUSIONS: The trucking occupation places drivers at high risk for poor health outcomes. Prospective studies are needed to delve into how continued exposure to trucking influences the progression of disease burden. Language: en
