02 Sep 2004TL;DR: In this article, a method and system for operating a push-to-talk communication between a PoC-group consisting of at least of one member of a first communication network and another PoC group consisting of a poC application server in a second communication network is presented.
Abstract: A method and system for operating a push-to-talk communication between a PoC-group consisting of at least of one member of a first communication network and a PoC-group consisting of at least of one member of a second communication network, using a PoC application server in each communication network. Members of the PoC-group of the first network operator are connected with the members of the PoC-group of the second network operator, and the PoC application servers are synchronized to each other.

TL;DR: The results of techno-economic assessment are shown and the structural convergence gain when applying a common transport platform in a FTTH and small-cell roll-out scenario are quantified.
Abstract: Carriers face the challenge of integrating their fixed and mobile infrastructures. In this paper we show the results of techno-economic assessment and quantify the structural convergence gain when applying a common transport platform in a FTTH and small-cell roll-out scenario. Furthermore, we discuss functional convergence, dealing with fixed mobile convergence architectures that are aimed at the combination of previously separated fixed and mobile networking functions such as authentication and data path management.

03 Nov 2010TL;DR: This paper provides basic building blocks to establish secure communication by exchanging secret keys between neighbor nodes without any use of cryptography methods allowing an gain in efficiency and proposes a second algorithm that extends the secret key establishment to nodes that are not direct neighbors.
Abstract: Radio waves are the medium used by sensors to communicate and exchange data. The unconstrained accessibility to any information carried over this medium is a security issue in many sensor-based applications. Ensuring protected wireless communications is a problem that has received a lot of attention in the context of ad hoc networks. However, due to hardware constraints of sensors along with multi-hop communication, most of these solutions turn out to be useless for sensor networks. This paper provides basic building blocks to establish secure communication by exchanging secret keys between neighbor nodes without any use of cryptography methods allowing an gain in efficiency. This paper also proposes a second algorithm that extends the secret key establishment to nodes that are not direct neighbors. Among the interesting features of the proposed algorithms we can note a low overhead and the absence of initial configuration.

04 Nov 2010TL;DR: In this paper, the authors forecasted the energy consumption of telecommunication networks over approximately a decade and showed a high energy consumption share associated with the home networks and an overall growth if no countermeasures are taken.
Abstract: The energy consumption of telecommunication networks is forecasted over approximately a decade. The results show a high energy consumption share associated with the home networks and an overall growth if no countermeasures are taken.

22 Sep 2010TL;DR: In this article, a mobile communication method and system in a network using coordinated multipoint, CoMP, transmission, the network comprising at least one base station serving a plurality of mobile terminals.
Abstract: The invention provides a mobile communication method and system in a network using coordinated multipoint, CoMP, transmission, the network comprising at least one base station serving a plurality of mobile terminals. According to the invention, the method is characterized in that each network data packet on X2-interface is tagged with an additional VLAN identifier according to IEEE 802.19 Ethernet.
