11 Sep 2019TL;DR: Using the tools of structural-synthesizing modeling, a set of constructors was developed that can be the basis for solving the dynamic problems on lightning protection of engineering constructions and civil objects, and development of strategy of aircraft behavior in order to mitigate the risks of lightning strokes in the conditions of movement in the thunderstorm front.
Abstract: Using the tools of structural-synthesizing modeling, a set of constructors was developed. Implementing parametric multi-character constructors allows to form fractal sequences of characters. Constructor-converter from the character string to time series creates fractal time series, which determine the location, magnitude and decay rate of lightning discharges. Model video images of lightnings in the thunderstorm front are formed in accordance with the implementation of the constructor-assembler. All constructors are developed on the basis of the generalized constructor that was previously presented and repeatedly tested. The model adequacy of the model is confirmed by comparing the video image of the model with the image, what was obtained by NASA satellite. This approach can be the basis for solving the dynamic problems on lightning protection of engineering constructions and civil objects, and development of strategy of aircraft behavior in order to mitigate the risks of lightning strokes in the conditions of movement in the thunderstorm front.

TL;DR: The presented method of code signal research can be the basis for developing dynamic model of the ALS receiver and decoder using digital processing module, which will enable to increase the reliability and accuracy of extraction of the code information component.
Abstract: Purpose. The existing system of automatic locomotive signaling (ALS) was developed at the end of the last century. This system uses the principle of a numerical code which is implemented on the basis of relay engineering, and therefore, it is exposed to various types of interferences. Over the years, the system has been upgraded several times, but the causes of faults and failures in its operation are still the subject of research. It is known that the frequency and the phase modulation of signal has a higher interference immunity as compared to the amplitude modulation. Therefore, the purpose of the article is to study the possibility of using the frequency methods such as Fourier series expansion and wavelet decomposition to extract the informational component of the received code from ALS signals under the action of various types of interferences. Methodology. One can extract the information unavailable in time representation of the signal using the signal studies in the frequency domain. The wavelet decomposition has been used for this purpose. This makes it possible to represent the local characteristics of the signal and to provide time-frequency decomposition in two spaces at the same time. Due to the high accuracy of the signal representation it is possible to analyze the time localization of spectral components and eliminate interference components even in the case of coincidence of interference frequency with the signal carrier frequency. Findings. To compare informativity of the methods of Fourier expansion and wavelet decomposition it was studied the reference and noisy signal of green fire code using the software package MATLAB. Detailed analysis of the obtained spectral characteristics showed that the wavelet decomposition provides a more correct decoding of the signal. Originality. Replacing the electromagnetic relays in the ALS system by microprocessor hardware involves the use of some mathematical tool for decoding, in order to obtain more information about the code. More often than not, as a mathematical tool, the classical Fourier decomposition is used. But because of a number of drawbacks in this method, it was suggested to use the wavelet decomposition, which has a number of advantages and accounts the disadvantages of the Fourier transform. Practical value. The presented method of code signal research can be the basis for developing dynamic model of the ALS receiver and decoder using digital processing module, which will enable to increase the reliability and accuracy of extraction of the code information component.

TL;DR: In this article, a generalized numerical modeling method of embankment foundation soil work was proposed, which includes not only the analysis of the foundation stress state but also of its deformed one.
Abstract: Purpose. In transport engineering structures design, the primary task is to determine the parameters of foundation soil and nuances of its work under loads. It is very important to determine the parameters of shear resistance and the parameters, determining the development of deep deformations in foundation soils, while calculating the soil subgrade - upper track structure interaction. Search for generalized numerical modeling methods of embankment foundation soil work that include not only the analysis of the foundation stress state but also of its deformed one. Methodology. The analysis of existing modern and classical methods of numerical simulation of soil samples under static load was made. Findings. According to traditional methods of analysis of ground masses work, limitation and the qualitative estimation of subgrade deformations is possible only indirectly, through the estimation of stress and comparison of received values with the boundary ones. Originality. A new computational model was proposed in which it will be applied not only classical approach analysis of the soil subgrade stress state, but deformed state will be also taken into account. Practical value. The analysis showed that for accurate analysis of ground masses work it is necessary to develop a generalized methodology for analyzing of the rolling stock - railway subgrade interaction, which will use not only the classical approach of analyzing the soil subgrade stress state, but also take into account its deformed one.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the stabilization process of train movement after interruption and loss of the working capacity on the double-track line with sorting station in extreme conditions during maintenance windows for capital repair of the track.
Abstract: Purpose. The article aims to analyze the stabilization process of train movement after interruption and loss of the working capacity. Methodology. To examine the process of train movement on the route (double-track line with sorting station) in extreme conditions during the maintenance windows for capital repair of the track. During the investigation of this process time calculations of a normal motion restoration after the maintenance windows were carried out. In this process there are no organizational interventions aimed to change various coefficients. It is presented in the research in its pure form, in order to show how the system comes to equilibrium. Findings. It was found out that the major losses of working capacity during the maintenance windows occur as a result of perturbations caused by interruptions, not the interruptions in themselves. The actual idle time in the study is about 300 train-hours. Directly because of the maintenance window it is 129 train-hours. Losses were equal to more than half of total idle time of trains caused by the maintenance windows. Originality. The authors proved the possible reduction of working capacity losses on railway direction as a result of a deliberate action on this process. Practical value. Implementation of these actions will reduce the losses of the working capacity.
