TL;DR: The proposed ways of finding solutions to models and standards can significantly accelerate the development of specialized AIs to manage a smart home and create an environment for the emergence of native innovative solutions based on analysis of data from sensors collected by monitoring systems of smart home.
Abstract: The technologies of a smart home and artificial intelligence (AI) are now inextricably linked. The perception and consideration of these technologies as a single system will make it possible to significantly simplify the approach to their study, design and implementation. The introduction of AI in managing the infrastructure of a smart home is a process of irreversible close future at the level with personal assistants and autopilots. It is extremely important to standardize, create and follow the typical models of information gathering and device management in a smart home, which should lead in the future to create a data analysis model and decision making through the software implementation of a specialized AI. AI techniques such as multi-agent systems, neural networks, fuzzy logic will form the basis for the functioning of a smart home in the future. The problems of diversity of data and models and the absence of centralized popular team decisions in this area significantly slow down further development. A big problem is a low percentage of open source data and code in the smart home and the AI when the research results are mostly unpublished and difficult to reproduce and implement independently. The proposed ways of finding solutions to models and standards can significantly accelerate the development of specialized AIs to manage a smart home and create an environment for the emergence of native innovative solutions based on analysis of data from sensors collected by monitoring systems of smart home. Particular attention should be paid to the search for resource savings and the profit from surpluses that will push for the development of these technologies and the transition from a level of prospect to technology exchange and the acquisition of benefits.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors assess the current state of digital library publishing (DLP) in university libraries in the Ukraine using a mixed methods approach, involving semi-structured interviews and an online questionnaire.
Abstract: Objective – The objective of this study was to assess the current state of digital library publishing (DLP) in university libraries in the Ukraine. The study was conducted in the hopes of gaining a better understanding of the DLP landscape, namely institutional operations, as well as their varying publishing initiatives, processes, and scope. Methods – The current study was conducted from January to June 2017 using a mixed methods approach, involving semi-structured interviews and an online questionnaire. Semi-structured interviews were conducted (n = 11) to gain insight into participants’ experiences with DLP. The interviews helped in the creation of the questions included in our online questionnaire. The questionnaire was distributed to 195 representatives (directors and leading specialists) of university libraries in the Ukraine. Replies were received from 111 of those institutions. The questionnaire consisted of 11 open- and closed-ended questions to allow the researchers to obtain a holistic picture of the process under investigation. Results – Analysis of the 111 questionnaires showed that for 26 libraries, DLP services were performed by employees of a separate structural unit of the library. For 34 libraries, employees of various departments were involved in performing certain types of services. The other 40 respondents’ libraries were planning to do this in the near future. Only 11 respondents replied that they did provide DLP services now nor planned to in the future. Among the libraries providing DLP services, the following results were observed: 54 of 60 work with digital repositories, 47 provide digital publishing platforms for journals, 26 provide digital publishing platforms for books, and 23 provide digital publishing platforms for conferences. Conclusions – The results obtained indicate a growing trend of expanding digital services in university libraries to support study, teaching, and research. Despite the still spontaneous, chaotic, and poorly explored nature of the development of the library publishing movement in the university libraries of the Ukraine, the readiness of librarians to implement publishing activities is notable. At the same time, the survey results point to specific aspects, such as organizational, economic, personnel, and motivational, that require further study.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to improve the efficiency of export rail transportation of grain cargoes in Ukraine by introducing shipper routing and concentration of loading at the terminal grain elevators.
Abstract: Purpose . The scientific paper highlights improving the efficiency of export rail transportation of grain cargoes in Ukraine by introducing shipper routing and concentration of loading at the terminal grain elevators. Methodology . According to the experience of the USA and Canada, one of the most effective ways to reduce costs in the grain to-port supply chain is a shipper routing of the rail traffic. Shipper routing for transportation of grain cargoes involves the concentration of their loading on the multiple junctions. The junctions are proposed to be selected with the use of cluster analysis methods. For the formation of the grain loading concentration areas the authors used methods of set theory and multi-criteria optimization. Findings . Based on agglomerative cluster analysis algorithm, the junctions on a network of Ukrainian railways are selected and the areas of possible concentration of grain loading are formed. DSU-algorithm allowed distinguishing the overlapping and non-overlapping areas of concentration. The problem of selecting non-overlapping areas of the grain loading concentration is formalized as the problem of multiobjective integer programming with boolean variables. The solution of this problem by a modified simplex algorithm allows selecting on the railway network of Ukraine 24 districts of possible grain loading concentration, which cover 70 stations and at minimal additional cost provide routing of about 7.5 million tons of grain per year. Originality . The originality of the work lies in the fact that the authors developed the mathematical procedure for selection of junctions and concentration areas of grain loading at the Ukrainian railway network, taking into account the economic efficiency of the process. Practicalvalue . Application of the developed method of grain loading concentration for the formation of unit trains will significantly reduce the logistics costs in the supply chain of grain to Ukrainian ports for export and, consequently, increase its competitiveness in foreign markets.

TL;DR: The technique of engineering calculation of railways strength for performance of calculations taking into account unequal elasticity of the subrail base was improved and the obtained results allow carrying out engineering calculations for an assessment of strength of a railway in places of unequal elasticities caused by a condition of a way or features of a design.
Abstract: Purpose. The module of elasticity of the subrail base is one of the main characteristics for an assessment intense the deformed condition of a track. Need for different cases to consider unequal elasticity of the subrail base repeatedly was considered, however, results contained rather difficult mathematical approaches and the obtained decisions didn't keep within borders of standard engineering calculation of a railway on strength. Therefore the purpose of this work is obtaining the decision within this document. Methodology . It is offered to consider a rail model as a beam which has the distributed loading of such outline corresponding to value of the module of elasticity that gives an equivalent deflection at free seating on bearing parts. Findings. The method of the accounting of gradual change of the module of elasticity of the subrail base by means of the correcting coefficient in engineering calculation of a way on strength was received. Expansion of existing calculation of railways strength was developed for the accounting of sharp change of the module of elasticity of the subrail base (for example, upon transition from a ballast design of a way on the bridge). The characteristic of change of forces operating from a rail on a basis, depending on distance to the bridge on an approach site from a ballast design of a way was received. The results of the redistribution of forces after a sudden change in the elastic modulus of the base under the rail explain the formation of vertical irregularities before the bridge. Originality. The technique of engineering calculation of railways strength for performance of calculations taking into account unequal elasticity of the subrail base was improved. Practical value. The obtained results allow carrying out engineering calculations for an assessment of strength of a railway in places of unequal elasticity caused by a condition of a way or features of a design. The solution of the return task on definition of the module of elasticity of the subrail base by results of natural measurements of tension in rails taking into account the given conditions is also possible.

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of CrB2 additive on the formation of structure of the diamond-matrix transition zone and the matrix material, microhardness, elastic modulus, retention of diamond grains in Fe-Cu-Ni-Sn matrix material and wear resistance of sintered diamond-containing composites by the powder metallurgy method has been studied.
Abstract: The influence of CrB2 additive (within the interval ranging from 0 to 8 wt%) on the formation of structure of the diamond–matrix transition zone and the matrix material, microhardness, elastic modulus, retention of diamond grains in Fe–Cu–Ni–Sn matrix material and wear resistance of sintered diamond-containing composites (DCCs) by the powder metallurgy method has been studied. Micro-mechanical and tribological tests were conducted using composite samples 10 mm in diameter and 5 mm thick. It has been established that the transition zone structure significantly depends on the CrB2 content in a composite and is of a different nature than that of the matrix material. The structure of DCCs transition zone based on 51Fe–32Cu–9Ni–8Sn matrix consists of Cu, α-Fe and Ni3Sn phases with graphite inclusions. The structure of DCCs transition zone based on 51Fe–32Cu–9Ni–8Sn matrix with CrB2 additives consists of the α-Fe phase and Fe3C, Cr7C3, Cr3C2 carbide layers without graphite inclusions. It has been shown that the hardness and the elastic modulus of sintered composite matrix material increase linearly as the concentration of CrB2 in their content increases while the wear rate decreases. The addition of 2 wt% of CrB2 to 51Fe–32Cu–9Ni–8Sn composite contributes to an increase in its hardness from 4.475 to 7.896 GPa and elastic modulus from 86.6 to 107.5 GPa thus reducing the wear rate from 21.61 × 10−6 to 10.04 × 10−6 mm3 N−1 m−1. The mechanism for enhancing the mechanical properties and wear resistance of DCCs samples containing CrB2 additives consists in refining of matrix phases of iron and copper from 25 μm to 10 μm and binding the carbon released during the graphitization of diamond grains to Fe3C, Cr7C3, Cr3C2 nanoscale carbides. This, in turn, increases the ability of matrix material to keep diamond grains from falling out during DCCs operation. Low values of mechanical properties and wear resistance of the initial (51Fe–32Cu–9Ni–8Sn) composite are attributed to the coarse-grained structure and formation of graphite inclusions in the diamond–matrix transition zone, causing its premature destruction and separation of diamond grains from the DCCs matrix.
