Abstract: A model is proposed to evaluate distribution of dispersed phase particles in a composite metal coating. This model is based on calculation of degree of surface occupation by particles and their distribution in volume. Effective parameters applied for electrolytic composites evaluation at the microscale level were formulated, and method for the parameters evaluation was set out. It was shown that density of distribution and portion of particles with certain size in a coating depend on electrodeposition modes. Generation of higher-fine crystalline close-packed structures of coatings in conditions of pulse relative duration increase from 2 to 50 and unchanged current frequency 50 Hz is caused by both increase of oversaturation at the crystallization front that results in higher non-equilibrium process of crystallization and also by passivation effect of UDD particles on the surface which is formed. Non-equilibrium conditions of crystallization give rise to more intensive penetration of disperse phase particles with smaller size (~ 0.25–1 μm) into growing coating, decrease of microlayers thickness from 4 to 2 μm and increase of UDD particles concentration from 1.43 to 2.47 mas.%.

TL;DR: A method which is based on apportionment of expenses for the traffic of a particular passenger train taking into account the factors affecting the magnitude of costs allows allocating properly infrastructure costs for a particular train and, consequently, to determine the accurate profitability of each train.
Abstract: Purpose. In the scientific paper a methodical approach concerning determining the infrastructure component of the costs for traffic of the particular passenger train should be developed. It takes into account the individual characteristics of the particular train traffic. Methodology. To achieve the research purposes was used a method which is based on apportionment of expenses for the traffic of a particular passenger train taking into account the factors affecting the magnitude of costs. This methodology allows allocating properly infrastructure costs for a particular train and, consequently, to determine the accurate profitability of each train. Findings . All expenditures relating to passenger traffic of a long distance were allocated from first cost of passenger and freight traffic. These costs are divided into four components. Three groups of expenses were allocated in infrastructure component, which are calculated according to the certain principle taking into account the individual characteristics of the particular train traffic. Originality . The allocation method of all passenger transportation costs of all Ukrzaliznytsia departments for a particular passenger train was improved. It is based on principles of general indicators formation of each department costs, which correspond to the main influential factors of operating trains. The methodical approach to determining the cost of infrastructure component is improved, which takes into account the effect of the speed and weight of a passenger train on the wear of the railway track superstructure and contact network. All this allows allocating to reasonably the costs of particular passenger train traffic and to determine its profitability. Practical value . Implementing these methods allows calculating the real, economically justified costs of a particular train that will correctly determine the profitability of a particular passenger train and on this basis it allows to make management decisions on amendments to the existing schedule. Also, the cost of using the infrastructure for a particular train and its profitability can be determined with the help of PC due to this method.

TL;DR: In this paper, the formation of metal-carbon complexes of Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn ions with 60 fullerene molecules and single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is proposed.
Abstract: Quantum-mechanical models for the formation of metal–carbon complexes of Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn ions with С60 fullerene molecules and single-wall С48 carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are proposed. The results of calculations show that, in aqueous solutions of electrolytes, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn ions can be adsorbed into the С60 fullerene and С48 SWCNT surfaces with the formation of stable carbon-nanomaterial—metal (CNM—M) complexes; in this case, the minimum energy of the С60–М complex for Co and Cu ions corresponds to the position above the С6 cell center; for a Ni ion, above the single С–С bond in the С6 cell; and for a Zn ion, above the C atom. The optimized states of the С48–М complexes correspond to the position of metal ions above the С6 cell center.

TL;DR: In this article, a discrete wavelet-packet transform was used to preprocess the time-dependences of the turnouts operating current using an artificial neural network-based classifier to detect turnouts faults.
Abstract: The problem considered in the work is concerned to fault detection of turnouts. Turnouts are one of the most safety-critical components of the railway infrastructure, faults of which lead to significant delays in train movement and can also cause serious accidents. To ensure the safe operation of the turnouts, they need to be maintained periodically, which is mainly done manually and is very expensive. For fault detection in turnouts, it is convenient to use the dependences of their operating current on time. The development of a reliable method for diagnosing turnouts consists in the need to obtain a sufficiently large number of measured dependences of the operating current on time for all possible malfunctions of turnouts necessary to find statistically patterns or train artificial neural network. The paper proposes to preprocess the time-dependences of the turnouts operating current using a discrete wavelet-packet transform, which allows to extract simple and clear features of turnouts faults and, accordingly, reduce the size of the required dataset for training artificial neural network and accelerate the learning process. The results confirmed effectiveness of using the discrete wavelet-packet transform and an artificial neural network-based classifier for detecting turnouts faults
