TL;DR: In this article, an elementary introduction to the concepts of the recently developed asymptotic methods and new developments is given, giving an intuitive grasp for Lagrange multiplier, calculus of variations, optimization, variational iteration method, parameterexpansion method, exp-function method, homotopy perturbation method, and ancient Chinese mathematics as well.
Abstract: This review is an elementary introduction to the concepts of the recently developed asymptotic methods and new developments. Particular attention is paid throughout the paper to giving an intuitive grasp for Lagrange multiplier, calculus of variations, optimization, variational iteration method, parameter-expansion method, exp-function method, homotopy perturbation method, and ancient Chinese mathematics as well. Subsequently, nanomechanics in textile engineering and E-innit y theory in high energy physics, Kleiber’s 3/4 law in biology, possible mechanism in spider-spinning process and fractal approach to carbon nanotube are briey introduced. Bubble-electrospinning for mass production of nanob ers is illustrated. There are in total more than 280 references.

TL;DR: Insight into CO2 electrochemical conversions, solid oxide cell material behaviors and degradation mechanisms are highlighted to obtain a better understanding of the high temperature electrolysis process in SOECs.
Abstract: High-temperature solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOECs) are advanced electrochemical energy storage and conversion devices with high conversion/energy efficiencies. They offer attractive high-temperature co-electrolysis routes that reduce extra CO2 emissions, enable large-scale energy storage/conversion and facilitate the integration of renewable energies into the electric grid. Exciting new research has focused on CO2 electrochemical activation/conversion through a co-electrolysis process based on the assumption that difficult CO double bonds can be activated effectively through this electrochemical method. Based on existing investigations, this paper puts forth a comprehensive overview of recent and past developments in co-electrolysis with SOECs for CO2 conversion and utilization. Here, we discuss in detail the approaches of CO2 conversion, the developmental history, the basic principles, the economic feasibility of CO2/H2O co-electrolysis, and the diverse range of fuel electrodes as well as oxygen electrode materials. SOEC performance measurements, characterization and simulations are classified and presented in this paper. SOEC cell and stack designs, fabrications and scale-ups are also summarized and described. In particular, insights into CO2 electrochemical conversions, solid oxide cell material behaviors and degradation mechanisms are highlighted to obtain a better understanding of the high temperature electrolysis process in SOECs. Proposed research directions are also outlined to provide guidelines for future research.

TL;DR: In this article, double cascading energy level alignment in bulk heterojunction organic photovoltaic active layers is realized, enabling efficient carrier splitting and transport, and a record-breaking PCE of 18.07% is achieved where, by electronic structure and morphology optimization, simultaneous improvements of the opencircuit voltage, short-circuit current and fill factor occur.
Abstract: The chemical structure of donors and acceptors limit the power conversion efficiencies achievable with active layers of binary donor-acceptor mixtures. Here, using quaternary blends, double cascading energy level alignment in bulk heterojunction organic photovoltaic active layers are realized, enabling efficient carrier splitting and transport. Numerous avenues to optimize light absorption, carrier transport, and charge-transfer state energy levels are opened by the chemical constitution of the components. Record-breaking PCEs of 18.07% are achieved where, by electronic structure and morphology optimization, simultaneous improvements of the open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current and fill factor occur. The donor and acceptor chemical structures afford control over electronic structure and charge-transfer state energy levels, enabling manipulation of hole-transfer rates, carrier transport, and non-radiative recombination losses.
