Abstract: In an EC motor, comprising a motor electronics, a signal input or a signal output, and an optocoupler for the galvanically isolated transmission of a useful signal between the motor control unit and the signal input or the signal output, the intention is to reliably determine the degradation of the optocoupler and to improve the service life of the EC motor. This is achieved in that an evaluation unit regularly evaluates a saturation voltage of the optocoupler at the output of the optocoupler in relation to a reference threshold when the optocoupler is wired and generates a warning signal when the saturation voltage exceeds the reference threshold.

The first assembly is designed to: - produce, at time intervals, a current service-life correction value (Δt) that depends on the detected first value for the temperature and the detected second values for the rotational speed (n); - change the currently stored third value for the service life (Cr) that is expected to be available on the basis of the calculated current service-life correction value (Δt); - store the result in the memory as a new currently stored third value for the service life (Cr) that is still available; and - produce and output the first signal as a function of the stored third value. The current service-life correction value (Δt) is preferably produced also on the basis of the electrical power and/or the current and the voltage.

Abstract: A circuit for thermal protection and power regulation as a function of the current winding temperature of phase windings of an electric motor. The circuit including at least one temperature monitor switch (TW 1, TW 2 ) that measures the winding temperature of the phase windings, and that upon attainment of a specific winding temperature shuts off the winding current flowing through the windings, the circuit further including a PTC thermistor that is associated with the phase windings and that, upon attainment of a specific winding temperature, reduces power by means of a resistance increase, or shuts the motor off. One of the phase windings has the PTC thermistor. The other phase windings or winding has a temperature monitor switch. The PTC thermistor and the temperature monitor switch or switches (TW 1, TW 2 ) are connected in series to a voltage source.

Abstract: Die Leistungsdichte moderner LEDs erlaubt es heute, diese Beleuchtungsart in Scheinwerfern von Kraftfahrzeugen einzusetzen. Die eigentliche Lichtquelle ist unempfindlich gegenueber Vibration und Schock, muss allerdings ebenso wie andere elektronische Bauteile innerhalb gewisser Temperaturgrenzen betrieben werden. Die wichtigsten Lueftereigenschaften fuer ein funktionierendes Thermomanagement in LED-Scheinwerfern werden erlaeutert. Vorgestellt werden robuste kleine Gleichstromluefter, die speziell auf die Belange des LED-Scheinwerferbetriebs abgestimmt wurden und die fuer die zuverlaessige Abfuhr der ueberschuessigen Waerme sorgen. Durch die Ventilatoren werden schaedliche Waerme und Luftfeuchte vermieden.

Die Schaltung umfasst einerseits mindestens einen die Wicklungstemperatur der Strangwicklungen messenden Temperaturwachter-Schalter TW1, TW2, der bei Erreichen einer bestimmten Wicklungstemperatur, der Schalttemperatur, ein Abschalten eines durch die Wicklungen fliesenden Wicklungsstromes bewirkt, sowie einen den Strangwicklungen zugeordneten temperaturabhangigen Widerstand PTC, der bei Erreichen einer bestimmten Wicklungstemperatur durch eine erfolgte Widerstandserhohung eine Leistungsminderung der Motorteistung bewirkt bzw. den Motor abschaltet. Eine der Strangwicklungen weist den temperaturabhangigen Widerstand PTC auf. Die anderen Strangwicklungen bzw. die andere Strangwicklung besitzt jeweils einen Temperaturwachter-Schalter TW1, TW2. Der temperaturabhangige Widerstand PTC und der Temperaturwachter-Schalter bzw. die Temperaturwachter-Schalter TW1, TW2 sind in Reihe geschaltet an einer Spannungsquelle angeschlossen.

Abstract: Dynamic loads in turbomachines may lead to severe fluid induced vibrations, in particular, if resonance conditions are matched. The major sources of such unsteadiness are rotor/stator interaction, flow separation on the blade suction side at part-load and separation due to the curvature of the shroud. In the present work, some of these phenomena are investigated using computational techniques (Computational Fluid Dynamics - CFD) as well as novel measurement methods (High-Speed Particle Image velocimetry - PIV). The measurements provide a unique database of the velocity fields in an industrial impeller at various operation conditions. They are the base for validation of the computational methods. In view of the complexity of the separated, transient and turbulent flow field, this is still an open issue. Besides that, the analysis of the transient flow fields allows the determination of the “modes” of unsteady forces und thus, to shed some light on the sources of unsteadiness in the flow.Copyright © 2014 by ASME

Abstract: The fan (100) has an inner stator and an outer rotor (400). A bottom portion of a return portion (420) is with connected to wall section. A connecting element (410) made of thermosetting material is connected to annular collar and is connected to mounting portion of rotor shaft. A rotor magnet is arranged at inner periphery of wall portion, and is separated by a magnetic air gap from stator and co-operating in operation with stator. Fan blades (480) are provided with impeller (430) formed from a thermoplastic material wh9ich is connected to free end of return portion.

Abstract: Contra-rotating fans have several advantages over single stage axial fans. If they are well designed, the exit flow field is almost irrotational. This helps to increase the aerodynamic efficiency by up to 16%, when compared to single stage fans. However, since the second stage interacts with the flow disturbances from the first stage, the associated noise generation is a disadvantage. This may be remedied by carefully tuning the design. The optimization of a contra-rotating fan involves a large set of design parameters. These include the geometrical parameters of the fan blades, the winglets, the guide vane as well as the hub diameter. We demonstrate an evolutionary algorithm which helps to automate the optimization process. It is controlled by two objective functions: (1) aerodynamic efficiency and (2) the emitted tonal noise. For the evaluation of the sound pressure, we implemented a new lattice-Boltzmann solver. Due to its algorithmic structure, this is ideally suited for massive parallelization. To leverage this potential, it is designed to run on general-purpose graphics processing units (GPGPUs). To further accelerate the optimization, it is supported by a meta-model based on a radialbasis function network. We demonstrate the method for a small contra-rotating fan. Our numerical results are compared with physical tests. The new algorithmic arrangement has shown to drastically cut development costs and time.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an intermediate circuit for an EC motor, comprising at least two similar series-connected capacitors for the connection of an electronic commutation device of an EC motor for nominal operation at a nominal voltage. In each case, a varistor is connected in parallel to each series-connected capacitor, wherein all the varistors are designed similarly. The capacitors and the varistors are dimensioned so that the threshold voltage of the varistors is less than the breakdown voltage of the respective parallel-connected capacitor, and, in the case of the failure of a capacitor or of a varistor, the sum of the threshold voltages of the remaining varistors is smaller than/equal to the nominal voltage of the intermediate circuit, and the sum of the threshold voltages of the series-connected varistors is greater than the nominal voltage of the intermediate circuit.
