TL;DR: The problem of establishing lower bounds for the estimation of deterministic parameters by means of a constrained optimization problem is revisited and lower bounds (Cramer-Rao, Barankin, Battacharyya) can be easily obtained as the result of an optimization by impozing the bias of the estimator.
Abstract: We have revisited and solved the problem of establishing lower bounds for the estimation of deterministic parameters by means of a constrained optimization problem. We show that these various bounds (Cramer-Rao, Barankin, Battacharyya) can be easily obtained as the result of an optimization by impozing the bias of the estimator. Simulations results are presented in spectral analysis.

TL;DR: The proposed method enhances document images by combining the Total Variation and the Non-local Means techniques in order to improve OCR recognition and is shown to be more powerful than when these techniques are used alone and than other enhancement methods.

TL;DR: The synthesis, luminescence, and nonlinear optical properties of a new series of Ir(ppy)3 (ppy = 2-phenylpyridine) complexes incorporating π-extended vinyl-aryl substituents at the para positions of their pyridine rings are reported.
Abstract: The synthesis, luminescence, and nonlinear optical properties of a new series of Ir(ppy)3 (ppy = 2-phenylpyridine) complexes incorporating π-extended vinyl-aryl substituents at the para positions of their pyridine rings are reported. Appropriate substitution of the pyridyl rings allows the tuning of the luminescence properties and the second-order nonlinear optical response of this unusual family of three-dimensional chromophores. Theoretical calculations were performed to evaluate the dipole moments, to gain insight into the electronic structure, and to rationalize the observed optical properties of the investigated complexes.

TL;DR: This work model a collection of four TPM commands, and they are identified and formalise their security properties, and propose modifications to the API and verify their properties for the modified API.
Abstract: The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a hardware chip designed to enable computers to achieve a greater level of security than is possible in software alone. To this end, the TPM provides a way to store cryptographic keys and other sensitive data in its shielded memory. Through its API, one can use those keys to achieve some security goals. The TPM is a complex security component, whose specification consists of more than 700 pages. We model a collection of four TPM commands, and we identify and formalise their security properties. Using the tool ProVerif, we rediscover some known attacks and some new variations on them. We propose modifications to the API and verify our properties for the modified API.
