18 Jul 2015TL;DR: This paper shows how to compute a single strategy to enforce that for all dimensions i, the probability of outcomes satisfying f_i(\rho ) is at least \(\alpha _i\), and considers classical quantitative payoffs from the literature.
Abstract: Markov decision processes (MDPs) with multi-dimensional weights are useful to analyze systems with multiple objectives that may be conflicting and require the analysis of trade-offs. In this paper, we study the complexity of percentile queries in such MDPs and give algorithms to synthesize strategies that enforce such constraints. Given a multi-dimensional weighted MDP and a quantitative payoff function f, thresholds \(v_i\) (one per dimension), and probability thresholds \(\alpha _i\), we show how to compute a single strategy to enforce that for all dimensions i, the probability of outcomes \(\rho \) satisfying \(f_i(\rho ) \ge v_i\) is at least \(\alpha _i\). We consider classical quantitative payoffs from the literature (sup, inf, lim sup, lim inf, mean-payoff, truncated sum, discounted sum). Our work extends to the quantitative case the multi-objective model checking problem studied by Etessami et al. [16] in unweighted MDPs.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the parameters to optimize the production of negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy color centers (NV) in type-1b single crystal diamond using proton irradiation followed by thermal annealing under vacuum.
Abstract: We studied the parameters to optimize the production of negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy color centers (NV${}^{\ensuremath{-}}$) in type-1b single crystal diamond using proton irradiation followed by thermal annealing under vacuum. Several samples were treated under different irradiation and annealing conditions and characterized by slow positron beam Doppler-broadening and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopies. At high proton fluences another complex vacancy defect appears limiting the formation of NV${}^{\ensuremath{-}}$. Concentrations as high as $2.3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{18}$ cm${}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ of NV${}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ have been estimated from PL measurements. Furthermore, we inferred the trapping coefficient of positrons by NV${}^{\ensuremath{-}}$. This study brings insight into the production of a high concentration of NV${}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ in diamond, which is of utmost importance in ultrasensitive magnetometry and quantum hybrid systems applications.

TL;DR: The perspectives of tryptase are reviewed and update and recommendations for use of this conventional biomarker in daily practice are provided.
Abstract: During the past few years, a number of molecular markers have been developed in clinical hematology, most of them related to specific gene defects. However, there is also an unmet need to develop novel serologic parameters to improve diagnostics and prognostication in daily practice. Among these, the serum tryptase appears to be a most reliable biomarker of myeloid neoplasms. Elevated tryptase levels are found in subgroups of patients with mastocytosis, myelodysplastic syndrome, myeloproliferative neoplasm, acute myeloid leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia and chronic eosinophilic leukemia. In these patients, the tryptase level is of diagnostic and/or prognostic significance. In mastocytosis, an elevated tryptase level is a minor criterion of systemic disease and in BCR-ABL1+ chronic myeloid leukemia, elevated tryptase at diagnosis correlates with treatment responses and overall survival. In patients with elevated tryptase, the enzyme also serves as follow-up parameter and can be employed to measure treatm...

TL;DR: The absolutely minimizing Lipschitz extension (AMLE) model is singled out as the simplest interpolation method satisfying a set of natural requirements and a maximum principle is proven, which guarantees not to introduce unnatural oscillations which is a major problem with many classical methods.
Abstract: Interpolation of digital elevation models becomes necessary in many situations, for instance, when constructing them from contour lines (available eg, from nondigital cartography), or from disparity maps based on pairs of stereoscopic views, which often leaves large areas where point correspondences cannot be found reliably The absolutely minimizing Lipschitz extension (AMLE) model is singled out as the simplest interpolation method satisfying a set of natural requirements In particular, a maximum principle is proven, which guarantees not to introduce unnatural oscillations which is a major problem with many classical methods The authors then discuss the links between the AMLE and other existing methods In particular, they show its relation with geodesic distance transformation They also relate the AMLE to the thin-plate method, that can be obtained by a prolongation of the axiomatic arguments leading to the AMLE, and addresses the major disadvantage of the AMLE model, namely its inability to interpolate slopes as it does for values Nevertheless, in order to interpolate slopes, they have to give up the maximum principle and authorize the appearance of oscillations They also discuss the possible link between the AMLE and Kriging methods that are the most widely used in the geoscience literature

TL;DR: For a given volume formfdx on a bounded regular domain Ω in IR n σ, this article showed that the existence of the Lebesgue transformation in Holder spaces can be proven.
Abstract: For a given volume formfdx on a bounded regular domain Ω in IR
n
, we are looking for a transformationu of Ω, keeping the boundary fixed and which sends the Lebesgue measuredx intofdx (i.e. we solve det (Δu)=f. Forf in various spaces, we propose two different constructions which ensure the existence ofu with some gain of regularity. Our methods permit the recovery Dacorogna and Moser's results [4], but also, we prove the existence of suchu in Holder spaces forf inC
