Abstract: Synapses connect neurons together to form the circuits of the brain, and their molecular composition controls innate and learned behavior. We analyzed the molecular and morphological diversity of 5 billion excitatory synapses at single-synapse resolution across the mouse brain from birth to old age. A continuum of changes alters synapse composition in all brain regions across the life span. Expansion in synapse diversity produces differentiation of brain regions until early adulthood, and compositional changes cause dedifferentiation in old age. The spatiotemporal synaptome architecture of the brain potentially accounts for life-span transitions in intellectual ability, memory, and susceptibility to behavioral disorders.

Abstract: Classifier ensembles constitute one of the main research directions in machine learning and data mining. The use of multiple classifiers generally allows better predictive performance than that achievable with a single model. Several approaches exist in the literature that provide means to construct and aggregate such ensembles. However, these ensemble systems contain redundant members that, if removed, may further increase group diversity and produce better results. Smaller ensembles also relax the memory and storage requirements, reducing system's run-time overhead while improving overall efficiency. This paper extends the ideas developed for feature selection problems to support classifier ensemble reduction, by transforming ensemble predictions into training samples, and treating classifiers as features. Also, the global heuristic harmony search is used to select a reduced subset of such artificial features, while attempting to maximize the feature subset evaluation. The resulting technique is systematically evaluated using high dimensional and large sized benchmark datasets, showing a superior classification performance against both original, unreduced ensembles, and randomly formed subsets.

Abstract: Many national, regional or local policies have been developed to support entrepreneurship both generally and in specific industries related to information and communication technology (ICT). Five perspectives on the meaning of entrepreneurship are considered, as: a function in the economy (with a three-stage model); a new business start-up; an owner-manager of a small business; a set of personal characteristics; and, a form of behaviour. These perspectives have differing implications for policies to promote entrepreneurship. These policies include: predominantly macro-level policies such as economic stability, taxation and regulations; micro-level policies focusing upon advice, training, finance, technology transfer, markets access, physical infrastructure and the characteristics of the locality; and creating an entrepreneurial culture.

Abstract: Chaos-based encryption schemes have attracted many researchers around the world in the digital image security domain. Digital images can be secured using existing chaotic maps, multiple chaotic maps, and several other hybrid dynamic systems that enhance the non-linearity of digital images. The combined property of confusion and diffusion was introduced by Claude Shannon which can be employed for digital image security. In this paper, we proposed a novel system that is computationally less expensive and provided a higher level of security. The system is based on a shuffling process with fractals key along with three-dimensional Lorenz chaotic map. The shuffling process added the confusion property and the pixels of the standard image is shuffled. Three-dimensional Lorenz chaotic map is used for a diffusion process which distorted all pixels of the image. In the statistical security test, means square error (MSE) evaluated error value was greater than the average value of 10000 for all standard images. The value of peak signal to noise (PSNR) was 7.69(dB) for the test image. Moreover, the calculated correlation coefficient values for each direction of the encrypted images was less than zero with a number of pixel change rate (NPCR) higher than 99%. During the security test, the entropy values were more than 7.9 for each grey channel which is almost equal to the ideal value of 8 for an 8-bit system. Numerous security tests and low computational complexity tests validate the security, robustness, and real-time implementation of the presented scheme.
