TL;DR: Examination of the comorbid conditions, the progression of the disease, and mortality rates in patients of all ages, infected with the ongoing COVID-19 disease found that patients withComorbidities should take all necessary precautions to avoid getting infected with SARS CoV-2, as they usually have the worst prognosis.
Abstract: A novel human coronavirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), was identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Since then, the virus has made its way across the globe to affect over 180 countries. SARS-CoV-2 has infected humans in all age groups, of all ethnicities, both males and females while spreading through communities at an alarming rate. Given the nature of this virus, there is much still to be learned; however, we know that the clinical manifestations range from a common cold to more severe diseases such as bronchitis, pneumonia, severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), multi-organ failure, and even death. It is believed that COVID-19, in those with underlying health conditions or comorbidities, has an increasingly rapid and severe progression, often leading to death. This paper examined the comorbid conditions, the progression of the disease, and mortality rates in patients of all ages, infected with the ongoing COVID-19 disease. An electronic literature review search was performed, and applicable data was then collected from peer-reviewed articles published from January to April 20, 2020. From what is known at the moment, patients with COVID-19 disease who have comorbidities, such as hypertension or diabetes mellitus, are more likely to develop a more severe course and progression of the disease. Furthermore, older patients, especially those 65 years old and above who have comorbidities and are infected, have an increased admission rate into the intensive care unit (ICU) and mortality from the COVID-19 disease. Patients with comorbidities should take all necessary precautions to avoid getting infected with SARS CoV-2, as they usually have the worst prognosis.

TL;DR: A review article highlights the health implications including physiological and psychological factors comorbidities, as well as the epidemiology, risk factors, prevention, and control of childhood and adolescent obesity in the United States.
Abstract: Childhood and adolescent obesity have reached epidemic levels in the United States. Currently, about 17% of US children are presenting with obesity. Obesity can affect all aspects of the children including their psychological as well as cardiovascular health; also, their overall physical health is affected. The association between obesity and other conditions makes it a public health concern for children and adolescents. Due to the increase in the prevalence of obesity among children, a variety of research studies have been conducted to discover what associations and risk factors increase the probability that a child will present with obesity. While a complete picture of all the risk factors associated with obesity remains elusive, the combination of diet, exercise, physiological factors, and psychological factors is important in the control and prevention of childhood obesity; thus, all researchers agree that prevention is the key strategy for controlling the current problem. Primary prevention methods are aimed at educating the child and family, as well as encouraging appropriate diet and exercise from a young age through adulthood, while secondary prevention is targeted at lessening the effect of childhood obesity to prevent the child from continuing the unhealthy habits and obesity into adulthood. A combination of both primary and secondary prevention is necessary to achieve the best results. This review article highlights the health implications including physiological and psychological factors comorbidities, as well as the epidemiology, risk factors, prevention, and control of childhood and adolescent obesity in the United States.

TL;DR: This review of alcohol use and alcoholism in the history of American health and medicine reveals a range of ambiguous perspectives, including the evolution of the modern addiction treatment system and the formulation and promulgation of the disease concept.
Abstract: This review of alcohol use and alcoholism in the history of American health and medicine reveals a range of ambiguous perspectives. In early America, alcohol was attributed with an array of medicinal uses, while habitual drunkenness was not accepted and was identified as a sin. The reformers of the temperance movement expanded upon what they regarded as the social problems associated with alcohol. In nineteenth century America, medical sectarians developed conflicting and contradictory views on health and healing, including the place of alcohol and how to address alcoholism. As the American hospital system evolved, approaches for the care and treatment that alcoholics received in hospitals had to develop as well. Progressive reforms in the early twentieth century impacted many areas of public health in the United States, but continued to embody moralism. These historical trends profoundly influenced the social and institutional responses to alcoholism that continue today, including the evolution of the modern addiction treatment system and the formulation and promulgation of the disease concept.

TL;DR: A Manhattan building, designed by architect Costas Kondylos and called The Future, is an exception, and in viewing The Future the authors are struck by the tilted orientation of its balconies.
Abstract: A common feature of modern urban residential architectural design throughout the world is the balcony. It blurs the experiential border between the secure private inside and public outside vista. We usually perceive the orientation and shape of these structures veridically. A Manhattan building (3rd Avenue and 32nd Street), designed by architect Costas Kondylos and called The Future (figure 1) is an exception. In viewing The Future we are struck by the tilted orientation of its balconies.
