TL;DR: In this article, a fuel oil composition comprising a major amount of fuel oil and a minor amount of an additive comprising at least one fuel oil-soluble alkyl or alkoxy aromatic compound was proposed.
Abstract: This invention provides a fuel oil composition comprising a major amount of a fuel oil and a minor amount of an additive comprising at least one fuel oil-soluble alkyl or alkoxy aromatic compound wherein at least one group independently selected from alkyl and alkoxy groups of 1 to 30 carbon atoms is attached to an aromatic nucleus and at least one carboxyl group and optionally one or two hydroxyl groups are attached to the aromatic nucleus; a process for the preparation of such a fuel oil composition; and the use of such a fuel oil composition as fuel in a compression-ignition engine for controlling wear rate in the fuel injection system thereof.

TL;DR: An overview of the use of zeolite catalysts in today's petroleum refineries, and some of the newer refining applications including gasoline sulfur removal and dewaxing via isomerization can be found in this paper.
Abstract: Zeolites, or more broadly molecular sieves, can be found in a majority of the major catalytic processes in today’s petroleum refinery. This paper provides an overview of the use of zeolite catalysts in today’s petroleum refineries, and emphasizes some of the newer refining applications including gasoline sulfur removal and dewaxing via isomerization. Zeolite catalysts are also finding new applications at the refinery–petrochemical complex interface. These applications will also be highlighted.

TL;DR: In this paper, a Monte Carlo computer simulation technique has been developed which models grain growth for the case in which the grain boundary energy is anisotropic, and the grain growth kinetics, as represented by the growth exponent n ( R = Ct n ), is found to decrease continuously from 0.42 ± 0.02 to 0.25 ± 1.02 as the anisotropy is increased.

TL;DR: A review of the most widely used models for explaining how plasticizers render PVC flexible can be found in this article, including the gel, lubricity, and free volume theories; kinetic theories; and mathematical models which predict on the basis of plasticizer structure how much a plasticizer will lower the polymer glass transition in a flexible PVC compound.
Abstract: This paper reviews the most widely used models for explaining how plasticizers render PVC flexible. These models include the gel, lubricity, and free volume theories; kinetic theories; and mathematical models which predict on the basis of plasticizer structure how much a plasticizer will lower the polymer glass transition in a flexible PVC compound. Since plasticization results from interactions between plasticizer and polymer, methods which have been used to study either the strength or the permanence (or both) of those interactions are also briefly discussed. Tools which have often been used to study plasticizer-PVC interactions include infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, compression and humid-aging tests, dynamic mechanical analysis, torque rheometer tests, plasticizer-resin clear point temperature measurements, plastisol gelation/fusion by hot stage measurements, and others.
