TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyze the perception of scholars and entrepreneurs of the city of Boa Vista about the importance of venture capital, in the form of Investment-Angel, for the development of the local economy.
Abstract: This work had the objective of analyzing the perception of scholars and entrepreneurs of the city of Boa Vista, about the importance of venture capital, in the form of Investment-Angel, for the development of the local economy. This research is classified as qualitative. A case study was carried out. The data collection medium was performed through semi-structured interviews. The Sample was composed of 6 academy representatives and entrepreneurs. As main results it can be inferred that part of the sample believes that the figure of the Angel Investors? can help to modify the local reality; that the term Angel Investment is still little known to local entrepreneurs, but that there are ongoing initiatives; that competition will be the major driver of the development of the local economy in the coming years. Given this context, the financing of start-up companies via Venture Capital, through the Angel Investment, is vital for creating an atmosphere conducive to the development of innovative and sustainable businesses in the Roraima state capital. As a limitation, the results from studies that use the case study technique can?t be generalized.

TL;DR: A new genus, Tapajobaetis , and a new species, T. labiosus, are described based on nymphs and adults from the Brazilian Amazon region, which possess modification in the labial palp, which seems to be adapted to collect fine material.
Abstract: The Baetidae family is represented by 32 genera from the Neotropics. A new genus, Tapajobaetis , and a new species, T. labiosus , are described based on nymphs and adults from the Brazilian Amazon region. The nymph, with highly modified head and mouth parts is readily distinguished from other genera of this family by the following combination of characters: presence of fine, simple setae on scape and pedicel, labial and maxillary palpi elongated, hind wing pads vestigial, and claws spatulate, with about 140 denticles. Adults, on the other hand, are more similar to other Baetidae and are characterized by the absence of hind wings, anteronotal protuberance slightly truncate and genitalia with posterior margin of subgenital plate convex, forceps segment III elongate. The nymphs were found exclusively over leaves of Thurnia sphaerocephala (Thurniaceae), in areas with moderate currents, and possess modification in the labial palp, which seems to be adapted to collect fine material.

TL;DR: The filtrate containing pyoverdine reduces the number of cells of X. axonopodis pv.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of a bacterial filtrate containing pyoverdine on the population dynamics of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. passiflorae , and the severity of passion fruit bacterial blight. The treatments were: King’s B medium solution; King’s B medium solution with 2 μmol L -1 Fe 2+ supplementation; and King’s B medium filtrate containing two concentrations of the siderophore pyoverdine produced by Pseudomonas sp. The filtrate containing pyoverdine at Abs363 = 0.231 (highest concentration) reduces the number of cells of X. axonopodis pv. passiflorae , and at Abs363 = 0.115 and Abs = 0.231 significantly reduces the severity of bacterial blight.

TL;DR: A low diagnostic accuracy of cervicovaginal cytology can be a barrier against the control of cervical cancer in Roraima, and the need for professional training and internal and external monitoring in Brazilian states with a high incidence of cervicalcancer is emphasized.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To evaluate the validity of cervicovaginal cytology performed at LAPER, the main Laboratory of Pathology of the State of Roraima, Brazil, by interrater agreement (external monitoring) and agreement with histopathologic results.METHODS: One hundred women were included, a population-based convenience sample. Their cervical cytological exams were evaluated by the laboratory staff and reviewed by expert medical pathologists, external to the laboratory. Cohen's Kappa index, sensitivity and specificity were evaluated. The study was approved by LAPER coordination and Federal University of Roraima Research Ethics Commitee.RESULTS: Regarding the prevalence of human papillomavirus-related atypical, there was no concordance between the results issued by LAPER and by the external pathologists (k=0.21). A low sensitivity (28.5%) and specificity (89,2%) was detected for the diagnostic performance of LAPER, with a high proportion of false positive and false negative results. The cytological reports of the external pathologists showed higher sensitivity and specificity (71.4 and 98.9%, respectively), ruling out the possibility that errors related to collection methods and staining would explain the low performance of the laboratory.CONCLUSION: A low diagnostic accuracy of cervicovaginal cytology can be a barrier against the control of cervical cancer in Roraima. We emphasize the need for professional training and internal and external monitoring in Brazilian states with a high incidence of cervical cancer.

TL;DR: The ecological role of PHF seedlings in savannas is examined, where this functional seedling type appears to combine the benefits of the photosynthetic efficiency of foliaceous cotyledons with the higher protection offered by hypogeal germination.
