TL;DR: The use of soil conservation tillage and peanut in rotation with sugarcane in the renovation areas is effective in controlling weeds and suppression of weed species difficult to control like Cyperus rotundus, Commelina bengalensis, Urochloa plantaginea, and Digitaria nuda.
Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the weed community in a raw sugarcane renovation area with three soil managements and peanut sowing in succession. The experiment was conducted during the 2007/08 season on a raw sugarcane area harvested without prior burning in the last five cuts. A randomized block design with treatments arranged in a split plot and arranged in four replications was used. The main treatments consisted of three cropping systems: conventional tillage, minimum tillage and direct planting, and subplots consisted in the absence (resting) or presence of crop rotation with peanuts. After 135 days from planting peanuts and 180 days of sugarcane harvest, the number of weeds m-2 was counted and the shoot dry biomass of the weeds collected was determined. The data were interpreted by analysis of variance and the means were compared by Tukey's test at 5% probability so that phytosociological indices a, b, c e d were calculated. The use of soil conservation tillage and peanut in rotation with sugarcane in the renovation areas is effective in controlling weeds and suppression of weed species difficult to control like Cyperus rotundus, Commelina bengalensis, Urochloa plantaginea, and Digitaria nuda.

TL;DR: In this article, a letter from the Dutch admiral Wybrant Warwyck written in Portuguese in 1604 sent to the Sultan of Ternate in Asia was used to examine multilingualism on Portuguese colonial documentation in Asia.
Abstract: Since Procopio (2010), studies are conducted on the colonial Portuguese and Spanish documentation in colonial Brazil. Among our findings, a significant multilingualism is presented in the text production process. Following Procopio (2013), we traced a comprehensive overview of the texts related to Portuguese colonies in Asia in order to compare them with the results we have achieved for colonial Brazil. Thus, we selected a representative text of the multilingual scenario experienced in the colonies: a letter from the Dutch admiral Wybrant Warwyck written in Portuguese in 1604 sent to the Sultan of Ternate. This study aims to examine multilingualism on Portuguese colonial documentation in Asia. First, we transcribed the text semipaleographically and then analyzed it by applying the concept of Code-Mixing, a process by which lexical items and grammatical features of both languages appear in a same sentence (Muysken, 2000). We classified data according to language and morph-syntax characteristics. In the analysis, we found that, from 922 tokens, 84% are Portuguese items, 14% are Spanish items, 1% is French items and 1% is Italian items. We noted that code-mixing occurs predominantly between nouns and pronouns, especially noun syntagmas. Code-mixing occurred by the direct lexical insertion of a term or a “foreign” morphological feature into Portuguese. Such processes occurred only among “foreign” languages. We concluded that Code-Mixing processing is challenging because it is a complex and diverse sociolinguistic phenomenon.

TL;DR: The geographical distribution of Pleistocene records of Tapirus in South America indicates that T. tarijensis was the only known species inhabiting the Tarija Valley during this time, and a taxonomic re-evaluation of Tap viruses is provided.
Abstract: Fossil remains of South American tapirs are often fragmentary and scarce compared with those of other mammals that entered South America during the “Great American Biotic Interchange”. Here, we review and add to the Pleistocene tapir remains from the Tarija Valley (Bolivia), and provide a taxonomic re-evaluation of Tapirus tarijensis. T. tarijensis was a large-sized animal, approximating the size of the living Malaysian T. indicus and the extinct North American T. haysii. The geographical distribution of Pleistocene records of Tapirus in South America indicates that T. tarijensis was the only known species inhabiting the Tarija Valley during this time.

TL;DR: Although the male crabs were more abundant than the females in May, there was not any statistical significam difference between the sexes, and the activity of the population is intenser at night than at morning for both sexes.
Abstract: Annual fluetuation of densities and population strueture of Armases angustipes (Dana, 1852) from a rocky shore at Farol Island, Matinhos, Parana, Brazil (25o51'S and 48o32'W) were studied. The population strueture was treated in the following aspects: sexual proportion, dial intensity of activities, size composition and its fluetuation, and general condition of the crabs. The collections were made monthly, from January to December 1991. The samples were obtained handly, in the morning and at night, at the supratidal zone during low tides. There were caught 1,139 crabs, among which 34 were juveniles, 544 males, 555 females and 4 ovigerous females. Population density was highest in April (19.56 ind.m"2 ) and in October (23.86 ind.m"2 ). The sexual proportion was 1:1 in eleven months. Although the male crabs were more abundant than the females in May, there was not any statistical significam difference between the sexes. The activity of the population is intenser at night than at morning for both sexes. The recruitment of juveniles oceurs mainly in March, April and July. The condition factor in females is related to the reproduetive period. The population can migrate to the terrestrial habitat near the supratidal zone.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors avaliou o potencial fisiologico de sementes de feijao-caupi, produzidas no residual de diferent adubacoes.
