TL;DR: In this article, an evolutionary algorithm was used to solve the Synchronized and Integrated Two-Level Lot Sizing and Scheduling Problem (SITLSP) in industrial settings.
Abstract: This paper introduces an evolutionary algorithm as a procedure to solve the Synchronized and Integrated Two-Level Lot Sizing and Scheduling Problem (SITLSP). This problem can be found in some industrial settings, mainly soft drink companies, where the production process involves two interdependent levels with decisions concerning raw material storage and soft drink bottling. The challenge is to simultaneously determine the lot-sizing and scheduling of raw materials in tanks and soft drinks in bottling lines, where setup costs and times depend on the previous items stored and bottled. A multi-population genetic algorithm approach with a novel representation of solutions for individuals and a hierarchical ternary tree structure for populations is proposed. Computational tests include comparisons with an exact approach for small-to-moderate-sized instances and with real-world production plans provided by a manufacturer.

TL;DR: In this paper, a review shows main microorganisms related to the manipulation practices such as Staphylococcus spp., Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp. and describes the factors regarding the foodborne illness highlighting the impact of good manipulation practices on the food safety and food quality.
Abstract: Food-borne illness is a major international problem and an important cause of reduced economic growth. The contamination of the food supply with the pathogens and its persistence, growth, multiplication and/or toxin production has emerged as an important public health concern. Most of these problems could be controlled with the efforts on the part of the food handlers, whether in a processing plant, a restaurant, and others. In contrast with most chemical hazardous compounds, the concentration of food pathogens changes during the processing, storage, and meal preparation, making it difficult to estimate the number of the microorganisms or the concentration of their toxins at the time of ingestion by the consumer. This review shows main microorganisms related to the manipulation practices such as Staphylococcus spp., Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp. and describes the factors regarding the food-borne illness highlighting the impact of good manipulation practices on the food safety and food quality.

TL;DR: Structural and phylogenetic studies identified residues under positive selection and their probable location in Bp-LAAO and other snake venom LAAOs (svLAAOs) and structural and functional investigations of these enzymes can contribute to the advancement of toxinology and to the elaboration of novel therapeutic agents.

TL;DR: In this article, the main potential environmental impacts of sugarcane bagasse electricity generation in Brazil were identified and quantified using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) technique based on primary and secondary data from three previous studies.
Abstract: This paper aims to identify and quantify the main potential environmental impacts of the sugarcane bagasse electricity generation in Brazil. To do so, it was employed the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) technique based on primary and secondary data from three previous studies encompassing electricity generation, transmission and distribution processes. It was identified that the main impact potentials of this type of electricity generation in Brazil that should be addressed by decision-makers are the photochemical ozone, the human toxicity via soil and the nutrient enrichment ones, which are caused mainly by the sugarcane straw burning prior harvesting and the chemical application. In addition, it was found that non-renewable resources, renewable resources and energy consumption are also important issues that should be addressed mostly in the process of electricity transmission.
