TL;DR: A 44% resistance rate was observed among E. coli isolated at a pediatric hospital in Santiago, Chile, and a general teaching hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, and investigations in Brazil, Honduras, and Costa Rica revealed that this high rate of resistance was not an isolated phenomenon.
Abstract: Resistance of Escherichia coli to trimethoprim (TMP)-sulfamethoxazole remains at 3%-8% at many medical centers within the United States. In this study a 44% resistance rate was observed among E. coli isolated at a pediatric hospital in Santiago, Chile, and a 40% resistance rate at a general teaching hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. Most isolates were from urinary tract infections and showed high-level resistance (minimal inhibitory concentration of TMP greater than 1,000 micrograms/ml). Nineteen of 35 isolates tested transferred resistance to TMP; most cotransferred resistance to streptomycin and sulfonamides. Dihydrofolate reductase type I was detected by gene probing in 14 of 35 strains. Subsequent investigations in Brazil, Honduras, and Costa Rica revealed that this high rate of resistance was not an isolated phenomenon.

TL;DR: This work found that the mixture model was preferred to the single normal model and that this model fit the data well and the proportion in the upper component (hyperglycemics) increased with each successive age decade.

TL;DR: The sistematization of the biliary ducts was carried out in 30 livers obtained from adult males (Gallus gallus domesticus - ANAK lineage) and showed that the ductus hepatoentericus is integrated by nominate ducts from: the lobus sinister and from the dorsal and mediodorsal territories of the lobe dexter.
Abstract: The sistematization of the biliary ducts was carried out in 30 livers obtained from adult males (Gallus gallus domesticus - ANAK lineage). The results showed that the ductus hepatoentericus is integrated by nominate ducts from: the lobus sinister and from the dorsal and mediodorsal territories of the lobus dexter (56.7%); the lobus sinister and from the dorsal, mediodorsal and ventral territories of the lobus dexter (16.7%); the lobus sinister and the lobus dexter (6.7%); just once from the dorsal and mediodorsal territories of the lobus dexter (3.3%). The ductus cysticoentericus also drains different territories of the gland, which are: the medioventral and ventral territories of the lobus dexter (56.7%); the mediodorsal, medioventral and ventral territories of the lobus dexter (16.7%); only the medioventral territory of the lobus dexter (16.7%); the lobus sinister and the medioventral and ventral territories of the lobus dexter (3.3%). Nominate and inominate ducts flow to the vesica fellea (53.4%), to the ductus cysticus (30.0%) or to both of them (10.0%). It still has been shown anastomosis among different collectors.
