TL;DR: Different estrogen derivatives have been studied and there is some correlation between their affinity for limited capacity receptors and their uterotrophic activity, but with acoefficient smaller than that of the uterus.
Abstract: Interaction of estradiol with rat uterus “receptors” has been studied using tissue incubation. The reversibility of estradiol binding has been confirmed and 2 types of binders have been observed. The first have great affinity, limited capacity and high specificity. The other, having smaller affinity and nonlimited capacity in the range of concentration used (up to 1 × 10-5 M), can be treated as a “partition” system. Nontarget organs, such as muscle or fat, also incorporate estradiol as a partition system, but with acoefficient smaller than that of the uterus. Different estrogen derivatives have been studied and there is some correlation between their affinity for limited capacity receptors and their uterotrophic activity. After incubation at 37 C, there is no “8 S” cytoplasmic estrogen binder, whereas there is more estradiol incorporated into nuclei than after 2 C incubation when the “8 S receptor” is preserved. TL;DR: It is concluded that the integrity of hydrophobic interactions within the enzyme molecule is not equally critical with respect to the two activities and that it is possible to operate a change in enzyme specificity by a controlled change in hydrophilic interactions.

TL;DR: The tissue antagonist of interferon (TAI) as discussed by the authors is present in the acidosoluble fraction after precipitation with 5% trichloroacetic acid and is resistant to proteases, to heat, and to low pH.
Abstract: SummaryExtracts of the amniotic and chorionic membranes contain a factor which blocks the action of interferon. The anti-interferon effect can be induced when the antiviral state mediated by interferon is already established. The tissue antagonist of interferon (TAI) is present in the acidosoluble fraction after precipitation with 5% trichloroacetic acid. It does not dialyze or sediment after ultracentrifugation. It is resistant to proteases, to heat, and to low pH. Although the biological role of this substance is unknown, it is postulated that it may contribute to terminate an antiviral state in the tissue and restore cellular receptivity to viruses.

TL;DR: A preincubation of histones with acidic proteins strongly diminished the inhibition of hemoglobin biosynthesis by either protein, which confirms the hypothesis of complex formation between histones and acidic proteins.

TL;DR: It is shown that the diminished tolerance to glucose observed in azotaemic patients in presence of a large and prolonged insulin secretion cannot be related to abnormalities in growth hormone or glucagon secretion.
Abstract: This study confirms our first results showing large and prolonged insulin secretion in patients with azotaemia and glucose intolerance. It shows that the pattern of growth hormone and glucagon secretions was not modified in these well nourished patients with chronic renal diseases and hyperazotaemia : the fasting values were in the normal range and the response during a 5 h glucose tolerance test was normal, except in one man with Fabry's disease, in whom a very large increase in plasma growth hormone was observed at the beginning of the GTT when the blood glucose increased. There was no increase in plasma H.G. H. during the intravenous glucose tolerance test of 60 min. Plasma glucagon values were normal.-This study done on 11 subjects shows that the diminished tolerance to glucose observed in azotaemic patients in presence of a large and prolonged insulin secretion cannot be related to abnormalities in growth hormone or glucagon secretion.
