TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the implementation of performance measurement systems (PMSs) in Indonesian local government (ILG) using Smart PLS, which explores a conceptual model developed to explain the hypothesised relationships between technical and organisational factors and the development and use of performance indicators and accountability practices.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the implementation of performance measurement systems (PMSs) in Indonesian local government (ILG) using Smart PLS. Couched within an institutional theory framework, it explores a conceptual model developed to explain the hypothesised relationships between technical and organisational factors and the development and use of performance indicators and accountability practices.Design/methodology/approach – Surveys were sent to senior finance officers in all local governments (457) across Indonesia with a response rate of 21.4 percent being achieved. Smart PLS was used to assess the quality of the data and analyse the research model proposed.Findings – Findings revealed that ILGs developed performance indicators more to fulfil regulatory requirements than to make their organisation more effective and efficient. As a way of increasing the success of PMS implementation management commitment through good leadership was found to be a major contributor. Coercive...

TL;DR: Two new dimeric bromopyrrole alkaloids have been isolated from the Indopacific sponge Agelas nakamurai along with the known metabolites sceptrin, debromosceptrin, and ageliferin, which inhibited the growth of several Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria in the agar plate diffusion assay.
Abstract: Two new dimeric bromopyrrole alkaloids, nakamuric acid (1) and its corresponding methyl ester (2), have been isolated from the Indopacific sponge Agelas nakamurai along with the known metabolites sceptrin (3), debromosceptrin (4), and ageliferin (5). Their structures were identified by analysis of spectral data. All compounds inhibited the growth of several Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria in the agar plate diffusion assay.

TL;DR: The proposal to include the fear of offending others in the DSM-V criteria of social phobia is supported by the present findings, and self-construal mediated the association between cultural background and social anxiety symptoms.
Abstract: Background: Taijin Kyofusho (TKS) is an interpersonal fear to offend others and is defined by DSM-IV as a culturally bound syndrome that occurs in Japan and Korea. Recently, cases with TKS have also been recognized in other cultures. The present questionnaire study investigated self-report TKS symptoms and social anxiety symptoms, and their clinical relevance in an Indonesian and Swiss sample. It also investigated if self-construal is associated with TKS and social anxiety, and if self-construal is a mediator of the expected association between cultural background and social anxiety and TKS symptoms. Method: 311 Indonesian and 349 Swiss university students filled out the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale, the Taijin Kyofusho Scale, the Self-Construal Scale, self-report social phobia DSM-IV criteria, and rated their wish for professional help to deal with social fears. Results: TKS and social anxiety symptoms were higher in the Indonesian than the Swiss sample. TKS symptoms were associated with clinical relevance in Indonesia, whereas in Switzerland only social anxiety symptoms were associated with clinical relevance. Independent self-construal was negatively associated and interdependent self-construal was positively associated with TKS and social anxiety symptoms. Interdependent self-construal mediated the association between cultural background and these symptoms. Discussion: TKS might be a clinically relevant syndrome in all individuals or cultures with an interdependent self-construal or less independent self-construal. The proposal to include the fear of offending others in the DSM-V criteria of social phobia is supported by the present findings.

TL;DR: The heteroatom in the acyl donor profoundly influences both the enzymatic acylation and deacylation; the O-substituted reagents performed best with regard to enantioselectivity as well as reaction rate in synthesis and hydrolysis.
Abstract: A fully enzymatic methodology for the resolution of chiral amines has been demonstrated. Candida antarctica lipase B (CaLB)-catalyzed acylation with N-methyl- and N-phenylglycine, as well as analogues having the general formula R 1 -X-CH 2 CO 2 R 2 (R 1 = Me, Ph; X=O, S) afforded the corresponding enantioenriched amides, which were subsequently enzymatically hydrolyzed. Surprisingly, CaLB also proved to be the catalyst of choice for this latter step. The heteroatom in the acyl donor profoundly influences both the enzymatic acylation and deacylation; the O-substituted reagents performed best with regard to enantioselectivity as well as reaction rate in synthesis and hydrolysis.
