TL;DR: The microdielectrophoretic effect of yeast cells is observed to peak during the mitotic phase, which indicates that the electric fields are associated with cell division.
Abstract: Living cells are observed to be the source of rapidly oscillating electric fields. These can be detected under the microscope by watching their accumulation of highly polarizable particles as compared to their behavior with relatively unpolarized particles, e.g. BaTiO3 vs. BaSO4, or NaNbO3 vs. SiO2. The ac fields produced by the cells are divergent. This can evoke dielectrophoretic motion of tiny test particles about them, a process called “micro-dielectrophoresis”. The microdielectrophoretic effect of yeast cells is observed to peak during the mitotic phase. This indicates that the electric fields are associated with cell division.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the law of propagation for light has the same form for all macroscopic observers, which leads directly to the quantum unified field theory which was introduced in a previous paper.
Abstract: If the relativity principle, which states that the law of propagation for light has the same form for all macroscopic observers, is extended to include quantum observers, this leads directly to the quantum unified field theory which was introduced in a previous paper. This theory appears suitable for describing all known interactions. Gravitation and electromagnetism are described by the Einstein equations ${G}_{\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{ u}}=\frac{1}{2}({e}_{\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{ u}}\ensuremath{-}{K}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}{j}_{\ensuremath{ u}}\ensuremath{-}{K}_{\ensuremath{ u}}{j}_{\ensuremath{\mu}})\ensuremath{-}R{K}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}{K}_{\ensuremath{ u}}$, where ${G}_{\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{ u}}$ is the Einstein tensor, $R$ is the Ricci scalar, ${e}_{\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{ u}}$ is the usual stress-energy tensor for the free electromagnetic field, and ${j}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}$ is the electromagnetic current. The vector ${K}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}$ plays a dual role. It is the electromagnetic vector potential in the covariant Lorentz gauge, and, it is also a unit timelike vector interpretable as the velocity of the observer.

TL;DR: Comparison of the groups indicated that children from severe problem-drinking homes had higher externality scores than children from homes where no drinking problem existed.
Abstract: Thirty children (ages 7–12), 15 from homes with parent(s) having a severe drinking problem and 15 from homes where no drinking problem existed, were given the children's Nowicki-Strickland Internal-External Control Scale. Comparison of the groups indicated that children from severe problem-drinking homes had higher externality scores than children from homes where no drinking problem existed. These differences may be due to different socialization experiences of the children.

TL;DR: In this article, self-awareness has been shown to reduce an individual's susceptibility to bogus bodily state information (that is, the veracity hypothesis) It is not clear, however, whether this effect is mediated by internal cue information or by external demands.
Abstract: Self-awareness has been shown to reduce an individual's susceptibility to bogus bodily state information (that is, the veracity hypothesis) It is not clear, however, whether this effect is mediated by internal cue information or by external demands In the present study, which minimized the operation of external demand, no support was found for the veracity hypothesis; in fact, self-aware individuals were somewhat less accurate regarding their bodily state than were those not self-aware

TL;DR: An inexpensive (under $600) microcomputer-controlled image analysis system that uses commercially available components is described and has been used to record position preferences and activity in animal groupings of various size.
Abstract: An inexpensive (under $600) microcomputer-controlled image analysis system that uses commercially available components is described. Both programming and construction details are provided, as well as a discussion of the utility of the apparatus in studies of animal behavior. The system has been used to record position preferences and activity in animal groupings of various size. Simply by changing the distance between the target and the camera, animals and/or arenas of differing size can be monitored.

TL;DR: Bynum and Tennant as mentioned in this paper have observed that military conscription and casualty rates differentially favor some races, regions, and socio-economic classes over others in the United States.
Abstract: in 10 princi.pal wars involving 43 million military personnel. In addition, Un'ited States military forces have been employed in many' other forei gn confl icts to protect our interests. For example, United States marines and army troops helped to relieve Peking in China in 1900 in' the Boxer Rebell ion. Sailors and marines were deployed in Nicaragua between 1922 and 1924. Marine and army units actively supported Lebanon in 1958. • United States militCiry casualties have continued to accumulate. Since 1940 'we have had 486,000 battle deaths and more than 1 million wounded during World War II, the Korean war, and the Viet Nam war. Several troublesome war-related issues have emerged in our society that should be considered~ Demographers have' noted the serious latent consequences of heavy military casualties on the general population. Since most military deaths are inflicted on young men, their death or disab-' Ii ng reduces the life chances or probability of marriage for an equal number of young women (Thom Ii nson 1976 22.). • Other social scientists have observed that military conscription and casualty rates differentially favor some races, regions, and sOCial classes 'over others.' A statistical and ecological analysis of al support for the Viet Nam war showed that where" income and social status are lower, men are more likely to enlist in the military service, and'are more likely to be assigned to hazardous duty i'n combat units. Thus certain economically disadvantaged groups are over-represented in the casualty lists' '(Tennant EI Bynum 1973).
