TL;DR: In this article, the authors used polarized proton beams with energies from 80 to 130 ε to determine the slope of the astrophysical $S$ factor for the reaction proceeds predominately by $s$ wave capture.
Abstract: Polarized proton beams with energies from 80 to $130\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{keV}$ have been used to determine the slope of the astrophysical $S$ factor for the $^{6}\mathrm{Li}(p,{\ensuremath{\gamma}}_{0})^{7}\mathrm{Be}$ and $^{6}\mathrm{Li}(p,{\ensuremath{\gamma}}_{1})^{7}\mathrm{Be}$ reactions. The slope was determined from the relative yields at five incident proton energies. The slope of the $S$ factor was found to be negative. The analyzing power measurements indicate that the reaction proceeds predominately by $s$-wave capture. The negative slope does not appear to be due to low-binding-energy effects, the effects of nearby resonances, or electron screening of the nuclei. A resonating group model calculation demonstrates a new mechanism for producing a negative slope at astrophysically relevant energies in radiative capture reactions.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe research that applies a tourist framework to study abroad attitudes and preferences, which can help business educators and study abroad professionals design, develop, and market study abroad programs for business students.
Abstract: The authors describe research that applies a tourist framework to study abroad attitudes and preferences. A total of 371 university business students in the Southern region of the United States completed a survey that included the International Tourist Role scale and study abroad attitudes and preferences. These students were grouped into one of 4 international tourist typologies: familiarity seekers, controlled exposure seekers, spontaneous dissimilarity seekers, and cultural dissimilarity seekers. Identifying the combination of travel preferences held by members of these 4 typologies can help business educators and study abroad professionals design, develop, and market study abroad programs for business students.

TL;DR: Analysis of mean grade point averages for 262 undergraduate courses at a Liberal Arts college showed higher grades appeared within two of the colleges' four academic units, although the reasons remained unclear.
Abstract: Considerable research has been conducted on grade inflation and its pervasiveness Given the significance of grade inflation on the quality of the educational experience and the reputations of colleges and universities, efforts to assess its presence and underlying causes should be supported and solutions developed Because periodic changes in average grades in the short term may be anomalous, mean grade point averages (GPAs) for 262 undergraduate courses at a Liberal Arts college were examined for trends across a 10-yr period Analysis showed higher grades appeared within two of the colleges' four academic units, although the reasons remained unclear Tentative explanations are explored

Abstract: In this article I illustrate the connections between talk, emotion management, and identity. In much of the recent work on collective, discursive strategies such as narrative and rhetoric, this lin...

TL;DR: Susiea is the oldest fossil taxon of the Euryale lineage, extending the previous Oligocene record back to the Late Paleocene and documenting a significantly older age for theEuryale/Victoria clade that is clearly a derived lineage based on phylogenetic analyses of modern taxa.
Abstract: Susiea newsalemae Taylor, DeVore & Pigg gen. et sp. nov. is described for distinctive seeds referable to the water lily family Nymphaeaceae from the Late Paleocene Almont Flora of central North Dakota, U.S.A. Seeds are oval to barrel shaped, 5 mm long 33 mm wide, and have an apical operculum and a prominent lateral raphe. The outer surface of the seeds is composed of palisade, shinglelike cells 40 mm high 3150 mm wide with smooth cell margins lacking papillae. The operculum is 1 mm across and surrounded by a narrow furrow, covering the micropyle but not the hilum. The raphe and micropyle are separated by several cells. Several specimens have a small embryo cavity surrounded by a small area of presumed endosperm below the micropyle and a well-developed perisperm filling the rest of the seed cavity. Susiea seeds are most similar to those of extant Euryale but differ in features of the epidermal cells, seed coat, and raphe morphology. They also share some features with Nymphaea, Nuphar, and Victoria. Susiea appears distinct from the permineralized fossil seeds of the middle Eocene Allenbya from the Princeton chert, Nuphar wutuensis from the Eocene of China, and Nuphar cf. wutuensis from the same Almont beds. Susiea is the oldest fossil taxon of the Euryale lineage, extending the previous Oligocene record back to the Late Paleocene and documenting a significantly older age for the Euryale/Victoria clade that is clearly a derived lineage based on phylogenetic analyses of modern taxa.
