TL;DR: The next phase of research in RNA targeting will not only focus on the discovery of new compounds, but also on how to develop small molecules with high affinity and selectively for RNA that can penetrate effectively into a wide array of cell types.
Abstract: Therapeutic targeting of RNA is not as well-developed as with DNA and proteins, and the many structures and functions of RNA suggest that it is an underutilized target. As with DNA, RNA has heterocyclic bases and base pairs with a highly anionic backbone, but as with proteins, RNA can fold into complex tertiary structures that create unique binding pockets for small molecules. Aminoglycoside targeting of ribosomal RNA is a well-known success story, and mRNAs and tRNAs have also served as therapeutic targets as well as model systems for understanding RNA-ligand interactions. The unique, species-specific structures and chemistry involved in splicing and ribozyme activity makes this RNA function an attractive target, and inhibitors of ribozyme activity have been discovered. The numerous serious human diseases caused by RNA viruses highlight the importance of developing new compounds that can target RNA structures in viral genomes. Considerable effort has been directed at finding compounds that target HIV-1 RNAs that control viral replication and frameshifting. As part of these efforts very useful new assays have been developed for small molecule-RNA interactions. The assays have led to the discovery of new inhibitors for different steps in viral replication. The next phase of research in RNA targeting will not only focus on the discovery of new compounds, but also on how to develop small molecules with high affinity and selectively for RNA that can penetrate effectively into a wide array of cell types.

TL;DR: An integrated location management architecture to support the diverse location requirements of m-commerce applications is presented and several interesting research problems and directions in location management for wireless Internet applications are presented and discussed.
Abstract: With recent advances in devices, middleware, applications and networking infrastructure, the wireless Internet is becoming a reality We believe that some of the major drivers of the wireless Internet will be emerging mobile applications such as mobile commerce Although many of these are futuristic, some applications including user-and location-specific mobile advertising, location-based services, and mobile financial services are beginning to be commercialized Mobile commerce applications present several interesting and complex challenges including location management of products, services, devices, and people Further, these applications have fairly diverse requirements from the underlying wireless infrastructure in terms of location accuracy, response time, multicast support, transaction frequency and duration, and dependability Therefore, research is necessary to address these important and complex challenges In this article, we present an integrated location management architecture to support the diverse location requirements of m-commerce applications The proposed architecture is capable of supporting a range of location accuracies, wider network coverage, wireless multicast, and infrastructure dependability for m-commerce applications The proposed architecture can also support several emerging mobile applications Additionally, several interesting research problems and directions in location management for wireless Internet applications are presented and discussed

TL;DR: Motivation theory is used as the overarching perspective to explain RTN and INV and the rich intrinsic motivation (RIM) concept from social psychology is appropriate to propose a conceptualization of RIM toward IS use, which includes intrinsic motivation toward accomplishment (IMap), intrinsic motivation to know (IMkw), and intrinsic motivated to experience stimulation (IMst).
Abstract: We identify two post-acceptance information system (IS) usage behaviors related to how employees leverage implemented systems. Routine use (RTN) refers to employees' using IS in a routine and standardized manner to support their work, and innovative use (INV) describes employees' discovering new ways to use IS to support their work. We use motivation theory as the overarching perspective to explain RTN and INV and appropriate the rich intrinsic motivation (RIM) concept from social psychology to propose a conceptualization of RIM toward IS use, which includes intrinsic motivation toward accomplishment (IMap), intrinsic motivation to know (IMkw), and intrinsic motivation to experience stimulation (IMst). We also consider the influence of perceived usefulness (PU)—a representative surrogate construct of extrinsic motivation toward IS use—on RTN and INV. We theorize the relative impacts of the RIM constructs and PU on RTN and INV and the role of personal innovativeness with IT (PIIT) in moderating the RIM con...

TL;DR: This paper improves the relation between the size mis(G) of a maximum independent set and the size cds(G), of a minimum connected dominating set in the same graph G, which plays an important role in establishing the performance ratio of those approximation algorithms.
