Abstract: Objective: Perfectionism and obsessionality are core features of eating disorders (ED), yet the nature of their relation remains unknown Understanding the relation between these traits may enhance our ability to identify relevant behavioral endophenotypes for ED Method: Six-hundred seven individuals with anorexia and bulimia nervosa from the International Price Foundation Genetic Study were assessed for perfectionism, obsessivecompulsive personality disorder (OCPD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) Results: No differences were found across ED subtypes in the prevalence of OCPD and OCD, nor with the association between OCD and OCPD Perfectionism scores were highest in individuals with OCPD whether alone or in combination with OCD Conclusion: Perfectionism appears to be more closely associated with obsessive-compulsive personality symptoms rather than OCD The pairing of perfectionism with OCPD may be a relevant core behavioral feature underlying vulnerability to ED a 2005 by Wiley Periodicals, Inc

Abstract: Tumour cells secrete exosomes that are involved in the remodelling of the tumour-stromal environment and promoting malignancy. The mechanisms governing tumour exosome release, however, remain incompletely understood. Here we show that tumour cell exosomes secretion is controlled by pyruvate kinase type M2 (PKM2), which is upregulated and phosphorylated in tumours. During exosome secretion, phosphorylated PKM2 serves as a protein kinase to phosphorylate synaptosome-associated protein 23 (SNAP-23), which in turn enables the formation of the SNARE complex to allow exosomes release. Direct phosphorylation assay and mass spectrometry confirm that PKM2 phosphorylates SNAP-23 at Ser95. Ectopic expression of non-phosphorylated SNAP-23 mutant (Ser95→Ala95) significantly reduces PKM2-mediated exosomes release whereas expression of selective phosphomimetic SNAP-23 mutants (Ser95→Glu95 but not Ser20→Glu20) rescues the impaired exosomes release induced by PKM2 knockdown. Our findings reveal a non-metabolic function of PKM2, an enzyme associated with tumour cell reliance on aerobic glycolysis, in promoting tumour cell exosome release.

Abstract: Two rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta) learned that the arabic numerals 0 through 9 represented corresponding quantities of food pellets By manipulating a joystick, the monkeys were able to make a selection of paired numerals presented on a computer screen Although the monkeys received a corresponding number of pellets even if the lesser of the two numerals was selected, they learned generally to choose the numeral of greatest value even when pellet delivery was made arrhythmic In subsequent tests, they chose the numerals of greater value when presented in novel combinations or in random arrays of up to five numerals Thus, the monkeys made ordinal judgments of numerical symbols in accordance with their absolute or relative values
