TL;DR: In this paper, a survey is conducted within multiple sectors to collect data, and the questionnaire is divided into two parts: the first part includes demographic information, whereas the second part contains questions pertaining to employees' job description and their satisfaction.
Abstract: In the today’s competitive environment, employee retention is a challenge faced by many industries. This work aims to identify the factors that influence employee retention. This is done using employees’ feedback and various computational techniques. A survey is conducted within multiple sectors to collect data. The questionnaire is divided into two parts: the first part includes demographic information, whereas the second part contains questions pertaining to employees’ job description and their satisfaction. The questions on the second portion are based on theories like Herzberg’s duality theory, expectancy theory, social cognitive theory, and sociocultural theory. These theories are further linked with factors like motivation, recognition and reward, bullying and work harassment. Later, the frequent items mining technique from the domain of data mining is utilized to identify the frequent factors from an employee perspective toward better retention rates. A test is also conducted to ensure the reliability of the data. The obtained results indicate it to be 87% reliable. A comparison between two frequent items mining methods indicates four times quicker performance of the k Direct Count and Intersect (kDCI) method in identifying key retention aspects from the data. A tool is utilized for analysis of variance (ANOVA) and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) tests to find factors crucial for retaining employees. The result identifies that work environment, reward and recognition, work performance, supervisory support, and income have high impact on employee retention.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of MAPOD curve using a finite element (FEM) code is discussed taking an example of Laser-Ultrasonics for surface defect detection in train axles.
Abstract: Laser-Ultrasonics is a technique seeking for maturity in the NDT for high speed train axles. When questioned for reliability, Probability of Detection (POD) Curves try to build the confidence on the stated method. In the recent period of time much work has been started for changing the conventional method of building POD curves by using Model Assisted POD curves or MAPOD. This method uses a simulated model in replacement real test specimen that is comparatively cheap and quick. In this research work Method of MAPOD curve using a finite element (FEM) code is discussed taking an example of Laser-Ultrasonics for surface defect detection in train axles. It relates the numerical response of FEM to build a validated and trained model for further mocking of the real POD specimen. It further compares the FEM method with general retracing methods being used for POD generation.

TL;DR: In this article, a new method is proposed to increase the rejection in microfiltration by applying membrane oscillation, using a new type of micro-filtration membrane with slotted pores, which results in both reduced membrane fouling and increased oil droplet rejection.
Abstract: A new method is proposed to increase the rejection in microfiltration by applying membrane oscillation, using a new type of microfiltration membrane with slotted pores. The oscillations applied to the membrane surface result in reduced membrane fouling and increased separation efficiency. An exact mathematical solution of the flow in the surrounding solution outside the oscillating membrane is developed. The oscillation results in the appearance of a lift velocity, which moves oil particles away from the membrane. The latter results in both reduced membrane fouling and increased oil droplet rejection. This developed model was supported by the experimental results for oil water separation in the produced water treatment. It was proven that the oil droplet concentration was reduced notably in the permeate, due to the membrane oscillation, and that the applied shear rate caused by the membrane oscillation also reduced pore blockage. A four-times lower oil concentration was recorded in the permeate when the membrane vibration frequency was 25 Hz, compared to without membrane vibration. Newly generated microfiltration membranes with slotted pores were used in the experiments.
