Abstract: The plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) in planar metasurface comprising of resonators having one S-shaped structure and a rectangular strip (both made of silver) was investigated. It was found that the S-shaped component of metasurface induces a single bright mode, whereas the rectangular strip manifests two bright modes with strong coupling of incidence electromagnetic waves. When both the metasurface components were placed in the proximity, the PIT-like phenomenon was observed. The effects of rotational angle of the metasurface as well as the angle of incidence on the transmission spectra (of the metasurface) were also investigated. Both the transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) waves were used to explore the PIT effect. It was noticed that the PIT window could be easily tuned by altering the horizontal distance between the resonator components (i.e., the S-shaped structure and rectangular strip). It is expected that the proposed metasurface structure would be prudent in switching, ultrafast sensing and optical applications.

TL;DR: A mobile cloud based framework that detects and retrieves player statistics on a mobile phone during live cricket and turns the smartphones smarter by significantly reducing the execution burden and energy consumption of the smartphone.
Abstract: Smartphones are increasingly becoming popular due to the wide range of capabilities, such as Wi-Fi connectivity, video acquisition, and navigation. Some of these applications require large computational power, memory, and long battery life. Sports entertainment applications executed on smartphones is the future paradigm shift that will be enabled by the mobile cloud computing environments. Many times mobile users request multiple mobile services in workflows to fulfill their complex requirements. To investigate such issues, we develop a mobile cloud based framework that detects and retrieves player statistics on a mobile phone during live cricket. The proposed framework is divided into several services and each service is either executed locally or on the cloud. Our approach considers the dependencies among different services and aims to optimize the execution time and energy consumption for executing the services. Due to the applied offloading strategy, the proposed framework turns the smartphones smarter by significantly reducing the execution burden and energy consumption of the smartphone. Experimental results are promising and show feasibility of the proposed framework to be deployed in several related applications using techniques of computer vision and machine learning.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors classify Bianchi type VIII and IX times according to their teleparallel Killing vector fields in the tele-parallel theory of gravitation by using a direct integration technique.
Abstract: In this paper we classify Bianchi type VIII and IX space—times according to their teleparallel Killing vector fields in the teleparallel theory of gravitation by using a direct integration technique. It turns out that the dimensions of the teleparallel Killing vector fields are either 4 or 5. From the above study we have shown that the Killing vector fields for Bianchi type VIII and IX space—times in the context of teleparallel theory are different from that in general relativity.
