TL;DR: The beneficial role of Na in suppressing the formation of nanoscale or amorphous sulfur-deficient secondary phases is reported with experimental evidence, leading to a higher phase purity for solution-processed pyrite films.
Abstract: Control of the constituent phase and stoichiometry of iron pyrite (FeS2) is a prerequisite for high-performance photovoltaic devices based on this material. If the pyrite contains sulfur-deficiency-related secondary phases which have a metallic character and a high possibility of coexistence in pyrite films, then significant carrier recombination is expected. In this work, the beneficial role of Na in suppressing the formation of nanoscale or amorphous sulfur-deficient secondary phases is reported with experimental evidence, leading to a higher phase purity for solution-processed pyrite films. The potential reduction of charge recombination via these metallic secondary phases results in significant improvements in both the photopotential and photocurrent intensity of Na-modified pyrite films compared with reference samples.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a numerical simulation for examining temperature fields, residual stresses, and distortions in multi-pass welding of a pipe-flange joint using a sequentially coupled transient non-linear thermo-mechanical three-dimensional finite-element model.
Abstract: This paper presents a numerical simulation for examining temperature fields, residual stresses, and distortions in multi-pass welding of a pipe-flange joint. A sequentially coupled transient non-linear thermo-mechanical three-dimensional finite-element model is developed to simulate four-pass tungsten inert gas welding process. An ANSI class 300{#} flange is welded with a 6 mm thick, 200 mm long, and 100 mm nominal diameter pipe, using a single V-groove butt joint with a 1.2 mm root opening. Goldak's double ellipsoidal model is used for the weld heat source, and inactive element addition technique is used for the addition of weld filler elements. Axial and hoop residual stresses and out-of-plane distortions along the flange face are plotted. In addition, welding start and end effects are discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis on reflection of waves in a thermoelastic micropolar medium is made, where the effect of viscosity and micro-temperature is also considered.
Abstract: The analysis is made on reflection of waves in thermoelastic micropolar medium. The medium is having an additional property of viscosity, while studying waves the effect of micro-temperature is also been considered. It is found that after reflection three longitudinal and three transverse waves propagate through the medium. Reflected coefficients are calculated for each wave to examine deviation of reflected waves. Results obtained theoretically are shown graphically against angle of incidence. It is analyzed that effect of viscosity and micro-temperature reaches to its maximum level during intermediate values of angle of incident.
